However, until now it was still necessary to change the hardware on the probe for different measurement methods. A special sensor technology eliminates the need to replace the head. The example of an investigation of a polymer thin film shows how this enables the precise characterization of polymers. Note de contenu : - CRAI measurement reveals height difference

Polyvinylpyrrolidone
Prothèses dentairesIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Removable complete dentures are still a therapy of choice for a variety of medical professionals and patients even in an era of implant and fix prostheses. This article focuses on comparing complete dentures manufactured using various denture base materials. Heat-cured polymethylmethacrylate, used for prosthetic complete denture composites, was blended separately with Polyamide (PA) type 6 and Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) type K30. These blends were prepared with various weight fractions (0%, 2%, 4%, and 6%) and reinforced with sisal and coconut powders, each added individually with varying weight fractions (2%, 4%, and 6%). The tensile test was carried out to achieve tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, and elongation percentage values. The numerical part depends on the Finite Element Method (FEM), conducted by using Ansys Workbench-2020 R2. According to the experimental data, the tensile strength, elastic modulus, and elongation of polymer blends increase at a 2% weight fraction of PA and PVP particles, and then decrease with higher PA and PVP particles' weight fraction. However, they decrease with increasing weight fraction of coconut and sisal particles. The highest tensile strength and elastic modulus are 86 MPa and 2.531 GPa, respectively, for PMMA-2% PA, and the greatest elongation percentage is 5.28% for PMMA-2% PVP. These findings lead to the conclusion that the addition of polymer blend materials to PMMA resin is a promising approach for improving tensile properties in applications such as complete or partial denture bases, addressing an ongoing challenge. Rupture (mécanique)
Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polycarbonate (PC) residues were collected from waste LCD panels for use as raw materials to prepare PC/PMMA polymer blends (1/99, 3/97, 5/95, 10/90), which were extruded in a twin screw extruder. The extrudates were subsequently pelletized and then dried in an oven before injection molding into tensile bars of ASTM D638-91, type I. The tensile bars were placed in an Instrontype tensile tester and the load-elongation curves of tested 5/95 specimens demonstrated distinctively varied yielding before final brittle fracture but 10/90 showed some sign of ductile behavior, peak in the load-elongation curve attributable to formation of a neck. The tensile strength increased from 569.6 to 633.3 kgf/cm2 with PC concentration in the range of 1 to 5 wt% while it decreased at 10 wt% PC. On the contrary, transverse rupture strength increased with added amount of PC. Addition of PC could have toughened recycled PMMA matrix under impact test conditions. Finally, the fractured surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscopy and numerous fine particles dispersed in the matrix of 10/90 are regarded as PC phase, in reasonable agreement with literature results. On the other hand, fracture surface of 5/95 showed nearly homogeneous matrix phase of PC/PMMA. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENT : Materials and blending - Measurements

Prothèses dentairesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : By blending heat-cured polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) resin with two different types of polymers, which are polyamide (PV) type (6) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) type (K30), added separately with various weight fractions (0, 2, 4 and 6%) to heat-cured PMMA resin as blend matrix, attempts have been made in this study for developing the PMMA resin properties employed for prosthesis complete denture. Sisal powder and coconut powder, two different types of natural powders, were added separately to the polymer blend matrices with varying weight fractions (2%, 4%, and 6%) to prepare composite specimens. Hand lay-up methods were used for preparing all specimens. This study covered the flexural test using the 3-point bending method, the impact test using the Izod method, and the maximum shear stress test using the 3-point bending method. According to the results, adding polymer blends and reinforcing powders boosts the impact strength, while lowering flexural modulus, flexural strength, and maximum shear stress. The composite specimens made of (PMMA-2% PVP-6% sisal) manifested the best impact strength and value (11.875 KJ/m2). These findings lead to the conclusion that using PMMA-based biocomposites with polyamide and polyvinylpyrrolidone blends improved impact strength for denture applications, which is one of the most important properties of these applications.
