TaninsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The annual cost of corrosion globally exceeds 1.8 trillion US dollars, which translates into 3-4 % of the GDP of industrialised nations worldwide. Over the past decade there has been significant progress in the development of smart coatings. Smart coatings require triggers to respond to the environment. Such triggers can be moisture, pH, chloride ions concentration, mechanical damage, and temperature and redox activity. In the current work we report synthesis of silica encapsulated tannic acid based smart coatings and its rust preventive performance derived out of the same. Epoxy primer grey paint and epoxy novolac based tank liner paints prepared using silica encapsulated tannic acid (MNSTA) were applied over manually cleaned surface. Its triggering mechanism was analysed by exposing them to different acidic pH and subsequently exposed to salt spray testing. The same has been compared with normal salt spray behaviour. Pull off adhesion, cathodic disbondment were performed in addition to understand its overall anti-corrosive behaviour. The development of more environmental friendly coating systems presents new challenges to the manufacturers of speciality chemicals and additives for coatings. However, there is a continuiting demand for new, improved products and development programmes are ongoing. SiliconesLes silicones, ou polysiloxanes, sont des composés inorganiques formés d'une chaine silicium-oxygène (...-Si-O-Si-O-Si-O-...) sur laquelle des groupes se fixent, sur les atomes de silicium. Certains groupes organiques peuvent être utilisés pour relier entre elles plusieurs de ces chaines (...-Si-O-...). Le type le plus courant est le poly(diméthylsiloxane) linéaire ou PDMS. Le second groupe en importance de matériaux en silicone est celui des résines de silicone, formées par des oligosiloxanes ramifiés ou en forme de cage (wiki).Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Steel is still one of our most important materials and certainly the most important metallic one. It is cheap and versatile but rusts in air, water and the ground.
Expert estimate the total damage to the German economy caused by rust as approx. Euro 50 billion annually. Sustained corrosion protection using suitable materials and methods is thus of major importance. At the forefront are long-life, colorfast, resistant systems which are economical and eco-friendly.
The authors describe a binder technology based on silicone-epoxy hybrid resins (brand name : SILIKOPON EF) for particularly high-performance and eco-friendly anti-corrosive coatings. The advantage of this technology is that it permits isocyanate-free 2-pack formulations to be produced with VOC content <250g/L and even <100g/L thus complying with new and future VOC legislation and compatible with the increasing interest in isocyanate-free cross-linking.Note de contenu : - Causes and mechanisms of corrosion
