Garance et constituants
Laine

Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Cotton and wool fabrics were dyed with nine natural dyes obtained by aqueous extraction of the original plants/insect in an attempt to reconstruct traditional textile dyeing recipes, to optimise the methodology at all stages, i.e. extraction, mordanting and dyeing, and to standardise it. Cochineal, madder, alkanna, henna, brazilwood, red sandalwood, safflower, indigo and logwood were used for the dyeings, which were carried out directly and after mordanting of the textile material. A variety of mordants, namely, aluminium potassium sulphate, potassium dichromate, copper sulphate, zinc chloride, iron(iii) chloride, iron(ii) sulphate and tin chloride, is anticipated to meet both early and recent requirements and options. The dyeings were evaluated through colour measurements and standard wash, light and rub fastness tests. Generally, the mordanting process known for many centuries and connected with the textile dyeing resulted in an improvement in dye absorption and fastness properties mainly for the cotton samples, as is concluded from the tests and measurement assessments. Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : This paper presents a new method for colour recipe prediction using ant colony optimisation. Three reactive dyes, namely CI Reactive Yellow 145, CI Reactive Red 238 and CI Reactive Blue 235, were used for colour formulation. Samples of 100% cotton fabrics were used for dyeing. The objective was to assure, control and optimise the colour formulation step by determining the dyes to be applied and their respective concentrations to reproduce the desired shades. The criterion of optimisation is to minimise the colour differences [Colour Measurement Committee (2:1)] between the target colour and the colour obtained by the proposed recipe. Errors between the proposed recipe and actual concentrations are also evaluated. The developed algorithm showed good performances with small colour differences between the target and reproduced colours (all lower than 0.7). Note de contenu : - ANT COLONY OPTIMISATION

OzonationIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Trials have been carried out to investigate the efficiency of ozone treatment in the colour stripping of reactive-dyed cotton fabrics. The trials were performed on a specially designed apparatus to inject ozone gas into the liquor passing through a perforated beam with fabric rolls on it, just like a beam dyeing machine with ozone venturi injection. Conventional reductive colour stripping was applied as the control treatment, and ozone treatment was applied for three different application times (15, 30, and 45 min). Trials were performed with seven selected reactive dyes having various chromophores and reactive groups. The results indicate that 45 min ozone treatment yielded the best colour stripping results among the three application times. Furthermore, the colour stripping percentages of the 45 min ozone treatment were higher for four of the tested dyes, the same for one of the tested dyes, and lower for two of the tested dyes compared with the control treatment, which consisted of conventional reductive colour stripping. Colour stripping of 90% and above was achieved for all samples of the 45 min ozone treatment. The chemical oxygen demand values of the colour stripping baths were compared: the average value of the 45 min ozone application baths was 105 mg l?1, and it was 1993 mg l?1 for the conventional reductive treatment baths. Consequently, a reduction in chemical oxygen demand of almost 94% was achieved by ozone treatment compared with conventional reductive treatment. The strength values of the fabrics after the respective treatments were similar, with a difference of only 3%. Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Combining dyeing and wrinkle-resistance finishing of cotton in a one-step process using a hemicyanine fluorescent dye DHEASPBr-C2 was investigated in this paper. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, a fixation test, extraction with boiling N,N-dimethylformamide, and a colour fastness test certified that DHEASPBr-C2 was linked to the cotton fibre through covalent bonds. The results showed that dyed cotton fabric using DHEASPBr-C2 had an obvious fluorescent effect in the range 550–700 nm, and the emission peak location was 588–590 nm. In addition, the dyed fabric met the EN471:2003 standard for chromaticity and could be used in high-visibility warning clothing. Ozonation
Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Ozonation is increasingly being used and reported in recent years. This paper investigates ozonation on aqueous reactive dyes and their dyed cotton comparatively. The effects, including pH, temperature and initial dye concentration (for aqueous dyes)/water pick-up (for dyed cotton), on Reactive Blue FL-RN, Reactive Red FL-2BL and Reactive Yellow FL-2RN, were studied via Fourier Transform–infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible absorption and k/s curves. The kinetic results indicated that all the aqueous dyes were of pseudo-first order kinetics, while dyed cotton represented pseudo-secondary or pseudo-third order kinetics. Based on their different mechanisms, there was a dramatic gap between dyes and dyed cotton in ozonation performance. The curve of rate constant vs pH of dye ozonation exhibited a U-shape with the minimum value at pH 7, but for dyed cotton ozonation, the curve showed a Λ-shape optimised at pH 10. Also, high temperature resulted in hydrolysis of dyes in aqueous solution, whereas this was not applicable to dyed cotton. The effect of pick-up (0%-150% with an interval of 75%) on reactive-dyed cotton was greater than the effect of initial dye concentration (which varied from 120 to 40 mg/L) on the colour yield of aqueous reactive dyes.
