Matières plastiques -- Industrie -- Aspect de l'environnementIndex. décimale : 677 Textiles Résumé : Bioplastics are on the rise : they also offer the textile market ever-more alternatives to man-made fibers produced from fossil raw materials — with forecasts predicting double-digit growth. However, there are also sobering head-winds : their ecological qualities are currently not sufficient to get a handle on the global problem of rising plastic waste both on land and at sea. Here, a differentiated look at the science is well worthwhile. Coating the yarn and filament guiding parts with carbon processing by Topocrom GmbH guarantees a much better process validation. Filament breaks and splicing are significantly reduced and the lifetime of the surface of the filament guiding parts is considerably increased by the wear-resistant coating.
(Wikipedia)

Surfaces antimicrobiennesIndex. décimale : 677.47 Non cellulosiques : Nylon, acryliques, polyesters, vinyles Résumé : The undesirable attachment of organisms to the surfaces of outdoor fabrics causes biofouling which could be a precursor of many problems including biocorrosion and material failure. In the IGF project No. 19585 N, novel antifouling finishes for outdoor textiles, such as sails and awnings, were developed on the basis of cerium oxide nanomaterials (nanoceria). The project was carried out by the German Research Foundation (IGF), Cerium oxide nanorods or nanoparticles were immobilized onto the surface of textiles, which have the ability to generate messenger molecules of micro-organisms due to their haloperoxidase activity that induce antibacterial efficiency and inhibit the biofilm formation.
