Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : With the development of innovative yarn structures and the required technologies, the ITM proved that highly oriented, homogenously blended card webs, slivers and high-performance hybrid yarns from recycled carbon fibers (rCF) can be produced for load-bearing composite components. In addition, the technical challenges and the technological lirnits of the production of high-performance yarns made from rCF could be shown. This provides the opportunity to transfer the ITM-developed process chain for hybrid yarn production at reproducible quality into industrial application. Furthermore, the research efforts allow a transfer of the findings in the next step for a requirement-adapted yarn production from pure rCF for thermosetting applications, and from other high-performance fiber materials. Matériaux hybridesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : We has developed a new hybrid metal and carbon fibre (CF) composite milling cutting disk in collaboration with Hofmeister - Innovation. With an initial ambitious target of a 50% reduction in overall machining time, the final design exceeded the goal. The hybrid four-disc tool increased both the cutting speed and feed rate. The result is a high productivity hybrid milling tool that can operate 78% faster on the same milling centre than a standard steel two-disc cutter. Note de contenu :

- Fig. 1 : Individual metal and hybrid carbon milling disc cutters manufactured by CompoTech and Hofmeister. The new hybrid tool design uses a lightweight epoxy composite with ultra-high modulus carbon fibres (CF) for the inner section of the individual milling discs ; the CF section is integrated with the steel hub and ring using a combination of an interlocking shape design and steel bolts
- Fig. 2 : New hybrid 4 disc milling cutter assembled. The entire four-disc hybrid milling cutter weighs only 16.25 kg, well within the maximum 25 kg. tool weight limit of the BT50 L 150 mm master mandrel on the Doosan Mecatec HM63H

Sol-gel, ProcédéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The development of hybrid materials has been extensively investigated in recent years. Hybrid sol-gel coating technology is one of the modern coating technologies to modify the surface property of metal without changing the metallic look of the surface.
The combination of a wide variety of compositions and production processes had permitted the use of these materials in different applications like coatings for corrosion protection of metals, antireflection coatings, etc.
Protective coatings based on sol-gel technology shows excellent chemical stability , oxidation control ans enhanced corrision resistance of metal substrate.
Nowadays, environmental legislation has pressured to prohibit the use of toxic material like chromate in pretreatment. The organic-inorganic hybrid films made by sol-gel reaction can be developed as an alternate for chromate in pretreatment. The low temperature processing conditions of the Sol-gel hybrids and their fast curing behaviour enables one to perform coil coating processes and to apply thin film on metal sheets.Note de contenu : - BRIEF HISTORY OF SOL-GEL CHEMISTRY

UrethanesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Inorganic/organic hybrid materials have considerable promise and are beginning to become a major area of research for many coating usages, including abrasion and corrosion resistance. Our primary approach is to prepare the inorganic phase in situ within the film formation process of the organic phase. The inorganic phase is introduced via sol-gel chemistry into a thermosetting organic phase. By this method, the size, periodicity, spatial positioning, and density of the inorganic phase can be controlled. An important aspect of the inorganic/organic hybrid materials is the coupling agent. The initial task of the coupling agent is to provide uniform mixing of the oligomeric organic phase with the sol-gel precursors, which are otherwise immiscible. UV-curable inorganic/organic hybrid systems have the advantages of a rapid cure and the ability to be used on heat sensitive substrates such as molded plastics. Also, it is possible to have better control of the growth of the inorganic phase using UV curing. It is our ultimate goal to completely separate the curing of inorganic and organic phases to gain complete control over the morphology, and hence optimization of "all" the coating properties. Thus far, it has been found that concomitant UV curing of the inorganic and organic phases using titanium sol-gel precursors afforded nanocomposite coatings which completely block the substrate from UV light while maintaining a transparent to visible light. Also, it has been found that the morphology of the inorganic phase is highly dependent on the concentration and reactivity of the coupling agent.
