QuebrachoLe quebracho est un arbre à écorce ligneuse, mesurant 30 mètres de haut, à feuilles tannées et à fleurs tubulées blanches.
Quebracho est l'un des noms communs, en espagnol, d'au moins trois espèces similaires d'arbres originaires du Gran Chaco, en Amérique latine : Schinopsis lorentzii (quebracho colorado santiagueño), de la famille des Anacardiaceae ; Schinopsis balansae (quebracho colorado chaqueño), de la même famille ;
Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco (quebracho blanc), de la famille des Apocynaceae.
Ces trois espèces sont riches en tanin et fournissent un bois très dur, particulièrement résistant. Leur nom provient de l'espagnol quiebrahacha, qui signifie brise-hache.

Tannage Résumé : Acrylic resins have been utilized for decades in the finishing of leather, and literature references are available for their use in finishing and in retanning processes. There is little in the current literature, however, on acrylic syntans for use in tanning or retanning, although such products have been available commercially since the early 1960's. In 1966, a Netherlands patent and, in 1969, a United States patent were issued covering the basic composition and use of an acrylic polymer prepared in the presence of a sulfated oll for use in the preparation of leather. A paper read at the Northampton group of the SLTC covered the known properties of one of these novel retanning materials. More recently, a patent was issued to cover copolymers of unsaturated acids and quaternized tertiary amines, although products of this type are not normally available. RetannageIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : The tanning industry generates a high quantity of solid wastes. Therefore, there is a need to create valorization [added value] options for these wastes. The main objective of the present work was to study the effect of protein hydrolysates (HP) prepared from fleshings on leather dyeing. During previous studies it was found that the application of HP products, obtained from fleshings, in leather retannage intensified the colour of crust leather. In this work the CIELAB colour system was used to evaluate the effect of HP on retannage processes. The main conclusions of this study were: (i) HP can be used instead of a dicyanodiamide resin (Fortan DC) if the colour parameters of the standard procedure are to be maintained, and (ii) the replacement of an acrylic resin (Fortan A40) by glutaraldehyde-modified HP (GHP) results in a darker skin, and can therefore be interesting for the reduction of the quantity of dye used. Tannage Résumé : The retanning process plays an important role in optimizing the leather’s colour, levelness, softness, fullness, and hydrophobicity. Polymer retanning agents are important materials for this process. The present study used maleic anhydride modified castor oil (MCO), PEG1000 (polyethylene glycol) and IPDI (isophorone diisocyanate) as main materials to synthesize polyurethane microemulsions (MC-PURs) and employed them to retan chrometanned leathers. The hydroxyl functionality of MCO was investigated by chemical and 1HNMR analysis, and confirmed to be about 2.0. The chemical structures of MCO, prepolymer and MC-PUR were characterized by IR.
The optimized synthesis formulation and polyurethane microemulsion MC-PUR3 for MC-PURs as retanning agent was selected by comparing the properties of retanned leathers, such as softness, fullness, grain tightness, tensile strength, extension at break, depth of shade, waterproof properties et al. Then, MC-PUR3 was characterized by means of DSC, TG/DTG and TEM techniques. Tannage Résumé : An acrylic resin nano-size latex whose colloidal particle size was about 20nm and solids content about 25% was prepared by a high solids content semicontinuous microemulsion copolymerization. The experimental product was employed in retanning drop [bottom] splits of pigs aiming to reinforce the leather. The offer of cross-linking agent and functional monomer were varied in the copolymerization experiment and their effect on the reinforcing function was investigated. The effect of colloidal particle size and dosage of nano-size latex on the reinforcing function also was verified.
The particle size of the latex was tested with a laser particle size analyzer, and the composition of the copolymer was analyzed by infrared spectrometry. Multifunction material test equipment was used in the physical testing of the retanned leather.
The result of the experiment showed: when the dosage of divinylbenzene (DVB) was 1.2% and the dosage of acrylic acid (AA) 0.8%, the reinforcing performance was the highest. When the colloidal particle size decreased from 64.2nm to 16.3nm, the reinforcing effect was also enhanced.
The tensile strength increased by 68%, and the tear strength improved 44% after the drop splits of pigs were retanned with 2% acrylic resin nano-size latex (with respect to the shaved wet blue weight). The effect of the dosage of sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), n-pentanol (PA), ammonium persulfate (ASP) and AA on the colloidal particle size was also studied.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL DETAILS : Materials - Synthesis
