les polyoléfines thermoplastiques semi-cristallines : polyéthylène (PE), polypropylène (PP), polyméthylpentène (PMP), polybutène-1 (PB-1) ;

ThermodynamiqueIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Adhesion to low-energy surface substrates is an important subject which represents both technical and practical challenges. It is often desirable to develope coatings to which nothing can stick, such as those of a non-stick pan. On the other hand, it is highly desirable to develop adhesives which stick to low-energy surfaces, such as polyolefins. This area has been of increasing importance in recent years due to the rapide development of various plastic materials used in consumer products.
It will be beneficial to first define the word "adhesive". In their pioneer studies of adhesion in 1925, McBain and Hopkins reported that "any fluid which wets a particular surface and which is then converted into a tenacious mass by cooling, evaporation, oxidation, etc. must be regarded as an adhesive for that surface".
McBain and Lee later added the requirement that the adhesive must be able to deform during its solidification to release elastic stresses developed in the forming of the joing. Their work made evident the following three requirements for an adhesive : Wetting, solidification and sufficient deformability to reduce the build-up of elastic stresses in the formation of the joint.
Clearly, both thermodynamic and rheological aspects are important considerations for adhesion. Today, when we speak of adhesion, the most frequently used terms are contact angle, surface tension and surface energy. This article delas with the thermodynamic aspects of adhesion to polyolefin surfaces. Our objective is to see if we can find the most favorable thermodynamic terms to give maximum adhesion to polyolefin substrates.Note de contenu : - The young equation

ThermodynamiqueIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Electrical conductivity was measured for aqueous solutions of long-chain guanidine surfactants (G12 and MG12) at different temperatures and with various added counter ions. The critical micelle concentration (cmc) of these surfactants determined from the specific conductivity (?) vs. concentration (c) plot is lower than those of the typical cationic surfactants, such as alkyltrimethylammonium chloride with the same hydrocarbon chain length. The electrical conductivity data were analyzed according to the mixed electrolyte model of micelle solution, and the degree of counter ion binding (?) was calculated. The thermodynamic parameters for micelle formation were estimated using the values of cmc and ? as a function of temperature. The more negative ?Gmicfor MG12 indicates more favored micellization. The contribution of entropy term to the micelle formation is superior to that of enthalpy term in the system under study, which indicates micellization is entropy driven. By comparing the cmc and ?Gmicit is evident that all cmc decreases and the more observed negative ?Gmicin the presence of different added salts. The anion effect on the guanidine surfactants micelle formation with added salts showed the micelle forming efficiency order as: Cl–< Br–< NO3 –< Ac–. ThermodynamiqueIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : For the type of reactive hot melt prepolymers discussed, there is a strong correlation between the heat of crystallization of the neat polymer and the 180° peel adhesion. The higher the ?H, the higher the expected 180° peel adhesion.
If a filler is needed, and for economic reasons it often is, choose one with a thermal conductivity close to or lower than that of the meat resin. The microspheres will accomplish this. The role the thermal conductivity of the fillers plays in the crystallization process is likely one of dissipating the heat generated through the heat of crystallization. A low thermal conductivity equates with a slower dissipation of the heat, thus allowing the crystalline network more time to orient itself on the substrate, or to better wet the substrate, resulting in higher peel values.Note de contenu : - Fillers
