Tests d'efficacitéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : In recent years the demand from consumers for natural preservation systems for personal care products has increased significantly.
Since many preservatives are not sufficiently effective against all microbes when used alone, more and more often a combination with preservation boosters such as 1,2-hexanediol is required. One well-established natural preservative is lactic acid, which is known to reduce bacteria in aqueous systems. In this study, preservation stress tests according to the European Pharmacopeia (Ph. Eur. or EP) were carried out for single ingredients and combinations of lactic acid with 1,2-hexanediol in an aqueous solution of sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) as a basic system. Sufficient preservation of the basic system could not be achieved with the individual substances alone. In contrast, in combination the two showed a synergistic effect and the test was passed. This synergistic effect of the combination of lactic acid and 1,2-hexanediol was verified in a shower gel formulation.Note de contenu : - INTRODUCTION : 1,2-hexanediol/WeylCare HexaPB from WeylChel performance products GmbH - L(+)-lactic acid from jungbunzlauer

SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : With the increased health consciousness and change in lifestyles with time, it has become very important for companies associated with soap and cosmetic products to develop formulations which are safe and mild for their application on the body. The environmental conditions, global warming, and excessive use of chemical fertilisers all have forced consumers to be highly conscious of their health. Variations in weather conditions during the year have different requirements for product properties. Depending upon the location, the weather conditions are different in different countries which have an impact on the product attributes. Improved financial standards have created demand for mild products with attractive packaging and good aesthetics. Consumers are now slowly moving from economy to luxury products with an assumption that luxury products are better in quality and are suitable for health. These challenges have created a highly competitive market with a lot of effort from multinationals as well as small players to focus on Research and Development to create new and innovative technologies depending upon the consumer need. The substantiation of the claims needs extensive clinical and consumer test support. Note de contenu : - EFFECT OF SURFACTANTS ON PRODUCTS MILDNESS

SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : - Objective : The excessive use of plastic packaging, even though it is possible to recycle it, is one of the main causes of global warming. In this study, dissolvable shower gel tablets for multiple uses have been developed in order to reduce the use of fresh plastic packaging.
- Methods : The appropriate ratio of two surfactants, cocoyl glutamic acid (CGA) and sodium coco sulphate (SCS), was optimized using design of experiments. Additionally, skin hydration of the emollient either omega oil or glycerine was taken into account when determining its concentration. After that, powdered shower gel formulations were made and tested for their properties, including cleaning power, and foamability. On 30 human volunteers, the effects of reconstituted shower gel on skin redness, cleaning effectiveness and overall satisfaction were evaluated.
- Results : The study found that, when cleaning power and foam height were taken into account, the proper surfactant ratio was 7.5:0 (SCS:CGA). The 5% glycerine shower gel formula demonstrated significantly greater skin hydration than other formulas. The in vivo study's findings demonstrated that there was no statistically significant difference between selected formulas (5% glycerine and 2.5% omega oil) in terms of cleaning ability. Comparing both formulas to the control, neither showed any skin redness. Additionally, it was discovered that the developed products were much more effective at cleaning and easier to use when washing for the volunteers than regular liquid soap. Overall satisfaction and the moisturizing feel were not significantly different among all products.
- Conclusion : The formula with 7.5% SCS and 5% glycerine is said to be the best one for both cleaning ability and moisturizing effect. These findings suggest that dissolvable shower gel tablets with enhanced skin benefits could offer a promising innovation in the personal care industry.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Materials - Formulation of dissolvable shower gel tablets - Evaluation - Statistical analysis

Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Bacterial strains and culture conditions - Identification of microorgaism in high-alkaline-pH saponified contaminated soaps by 16S rRNA gene sequencing - Modified challenge test with Nesterenkonia strain - Internal multi-inoculation test TM206 - Internal multi-inoculation test for alkaline pH soaps : TM768
