ViscoélasticitéIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Numerical simulations of co-extruded multilayered viscoelastic polymers flowing through a feed block were performed to analyze the effects of polymer rheology and process conditions on the distortion of interfaces between layers. Finite element simulations assuming Phan-Thien Tanner viscoelastic fluids were used to test the effects of increasing the number of layers introduced to the feed block and decreasing wall friction on interface distortion. It was found that increasing the number of layers introduced to the feed block decreased the overall distortion in the layers by reducing the overall magnitude of second normal stress differences and thus decreasing the normal in-plane velocities that cause distortion, which was validated by experiments. Decreasing wall friction was also found to decrease the amount of distortion in layer interfaces by decreasing the strength of these second normal stress differences. Structures multicouchesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The Swiss injection molding machine manufacturer Netstal will produce double-layer barrier preforms for milk bottles and their 38 mm closures with tamper-evident bands at the Drinktec trade fair. As with all mass-produced products, cost-effectiveness was also paramount when designing the milk bottle and its closure, alongside maintaining food safety. This is further enhanced via a control circuit link between the injection molding machine and the Intravis CapWatcher III visual inspection system. TitaneIndex. décimale : 611.1 Appareil cardio-vasculaire Résumé : This paper presents a novel method for evaluating the effect of human body temperature on the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (SE) of pacemaker. There are many sources of electromagnetic interference that interact with pacemakers: Cell phones may be considered responsible for electromagnetic interference EMI when they were held in the same part with the pacemaker; also, the magnetic resonance imaging makes a serious problem and must be avoided. In this paper, a new multilayer composite was prepared and built from alternating layers, the composite is reinforced by Titanium fibres and the dielectric layers made from the Silicon material, the dielectric layers are sandwiched between composites with Ti fibres symmetrically. Ti is the most widely used metal for pacemakers due to its high biocompatibility with the human body. Silicon has the advantages for being resistant material of temperature, lightweight, and its flexibility (bendable structure). The obtained simulation results prove the effectiveness of the proposed shield in the temperature range 37-41 °C. this is mainly due to the multi-reflection mechanism between the layers due to the high mismatched impedances.

Structures multicouchesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : This work studies the effects of uniaxial stretching on molecular orientation, crystallinity, crystallography and oxygen permeability of high barrier multilayer films based on EVOH barrier layer. Film samples were prepared using two different blow-up ratios (BUR) of 1 and 3. Uniaxial stretching was applied at 100°C using a tensile machine equipped with an environmental chamber. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was used to examine the molecular orientation in the EVOH layer before and after stretching and confirmed a considerable increase in the molecular orientation in the EVOH layer. Dynamic scanning calorimetry (DSC) and wide-angle X-ray diffraction (XRD) results point to the perfection of EVOH crystal structure by applying uniaxial stretching at high temperatures. Oxygen permeability results showed a considerable 25% decrease after stretching of the sample with lower BUR while a significant 80% reduction in oxygen permeability was observed for the sample prepared at higher BUR. The mechanism involved in increasing oxygen permeability due to the uniaxial stretching at high temperature is discussed in detail.
