Résumé : |
As part of an energy-saving project, the companies Ejot and RK Kutting looked at mold temperature control in a series application, paying particular attention to mold hoses. The strategic use of thermal insulation effectively reduced heat losses from the overall system and shortened the warm-up time by 40 %. The insulation also provides reliable protection against contact burns. |
Note de contenu : |
- Hoes with multi-layer insulation and further measures
- Analysis of current state and optimization of hose lines
- Actual energy savings are lower
- Project pays pays for itself within months
- Fig. 1 : Schematic structure of an injection molding machine. The areas of relevance to mold temperature control (heat emission/loss) are shown in green
- Fig. 2 : Measuring the surface temperature of the hose with an IR camera. Left: comparison of ordinary WF and insulated WFI hose; media tempera-ture: 160 °C, surface temperature WF: 131 °C, WFI: 82 °C. Right: WFI with insulating sleeve; media temperature 230 °C
- Fig. 3 : Comparison of the legacy hose with the insulated hose solution shows that the power loss in temperature control hoses should not be underestimated
- Fig. 4 : Mold hoses on the injection molding machine. The two photos on the left show the situ-ation before and the two photos on the right after optimization
- Fig. 5 : The prelimi-nary studies show an estimated savings potential of 6.5 kW. This excludes the savings on warm-up-time and the lower quantity of heat radiated into the production shop
- Fig. 6 : Comparison of expected and measured savings potential reveals a shortfall of approx. 50 %
- Fig. 7 : As a result of the energy costs saved (annualized), the investment in the new hose system pays for itself in a short time
- Table 1 : Overview of measures: how the hose lines and connections were optimized |
