B/C fibers reinforced polypropylene hybrid composites were prepared with different proportions. Variation in Banana, Coir and B/C fibers in hybrid composites, reveal the tensile, flexural, impact strength and water absorption. The PP and Banana, Coir fibers reinforced Composites were prepared by the twin screw extrusion of PP 80% with B-20, C-20 and B/C 15/5, 10/10 and 5/15 wt%. After extrusion, the extraction strands cut into pallets and injection molded machine make the test specimens. It was found that maximum tensile strength, the flexural strength and the impact strength at 20% of banana fiber. Tensile, flexural and impact strengths marginally have been decreased when decrease the banana fiber in the B/C fiber reinforced polypropylene hybrid composites. Also observed water absorption of same composites for 24 hrs., 48 hrs. and 72 hrs. Thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and XRD (X ray diffraction) was examined. Potassium niobate -- Synthèse
ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The potassium hexaniobate was synthesized by reacting, in stoichiometric proportions, Nb2O5and K2CO3at 1100 °C and modified with octadecylamine from an acid-base reaction. Through X-ray diffraction, an interlayer space of 4.27 nm was observed in comparison with 0.79 nm of unmodified oxide; this was also shown by SEM microscopy. The hybrid nanofiller previously obtained was incorporated into LLDPE by melt intercalation (0 up to 10 wt.%) using a twin screw extruder and LLDPE-g-MAH as compatibilizer. From TGA results, all nanocomposites (LLDPE/LLDPE-g-MAH/lamellar oxide) have increased the onset degradation temperature, while the oxide lost during processing for LLDPE/LLDPE-g-MAH/lamellar oxide nanocomposites was higher for the highest content in comparison with LLDPE matrix. According to the Eyring equation, the activation volume of the samples could be calculated using the relationship between the yield strength and strain rate from tensile stress-strain curves. The activation volume decreased with increase of nanofiller concentration, suggesting a good adhesion between the layered oxide and the polymeric matrix for high concentration. This can be attributed to the restricted segmental motion near the nanofiller/polymeric interface, while a poor interaction between them was observed for low concentration. However, the Young’s modulus showed a 50% improvement for low nanofiller concentration, especially in the case of 1 wt.% of nanofiller, which was also confirmed by modulus and toughness balance. Considering all the results, it has been revealed that the proton exchanged layered niobate can improve the thermal and mechanical properties of LLDPE/LLDPE-g-MAH/lamellar oxide nanocomposites. The paint and primer should adhere well on to the metallic surfaces in the form of thin films. These adherent films are not always long-lasting.
Elastic properties of films made of red oxide primers and polyurethane-based synthetic enamel paints were measured. The measurements included the modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio, and strain energy. If taken into account, these findings may ultimately lead to improved primer-paint systems for the surfaces.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Modulus of elasticity - Poisson's ratio - Strain energy - Rigidity

RhéologieIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : The offline Microstructure of nanocomposites based on Poly-Propylene (PP), Ethylene-Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) and Cloisite 15A along the twin screw extruder barrel was investigated by X-Ray diffraction, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and rheological measurements. To assess the effect of screw zones, the microstructural development of nanocomposites along the screw was investigated. Accordingly, dead-stop experiment samples were taken at four different positions of the extruder after abruptly stopping the machine and opening the barrel. Effect of clay loading on the evolution of morphology in the extruder was studied. X-Ray diffraction results showed that at lower clay contents (up to~ 7 wt.%), the intercalation process is independent of screw geometry and accomplishes as soon as the matrix is melted; and on the other hand, excessive melt mixing of the samples containing higher clay loadings (10 wt.%) might lead to the collapse of silicate layers and consequently poor degrees of intercalation/exfoliation. Results were confirmed by TEM micrographs and also XRD patterns of the nanocomposites sensitively detecting the microstructural changes of the samples. Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Polypropylene (PP)/ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM)/ graphene nanosheets (GNs) were compounded by a two-step melt mixing process via an internal mixer (brabender plasticorder). The effect of GNs, graphene oxide (GOSs) and graphene oxide functionalized with PP chains (PP-g-GOSs) on various blend properties were investigated. Wide X-ray diffraction (WAXD) patterns and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images of the prepared nanocomposites revealed that the nanofillers were mostly dispersed into the PP phase and the dispersion state of GNs was improved with functionalization of graphene. SEM photomicrographs indicated that rubber droplets were distributed in the PP phase and a reduction of the dispersed EPDM droplet size was observed most likely due to increase in the viscosity of the PP-phase during melt mixing. The effects of nanofillers on thermal, mechanical and rheological properties were reported, and the obtained results were discussed in terms of morphology, state of dispersion and distribution of the nanofillers within the PP matrix. As for the mechanical properties, an improvement of 56% in tensile modulus and 48% in tensile strength, while 72% reduction in elongation at break was observed. The DMTA results revealed that the nanocomposites based on PP-g-GOSs had lower damping behavior and the intensity of the loss factor decreased by increasing the GNs content. These results indicate the presence of a strong interfacial interaction between the nanoplatelets and the polymer matrix.
