Quebracho est l'un des noms communs, en espagnol, d'au moins trois espèces similaires d'arbres originaires du Gran Chaco, en Amérique latine : Schinopsis lorentzii (quebracho colorado santiagueño), de la famille des Anacardiaceae ; Schinopsis balansae (quebracho colorado chaqueño), de la même famille ;

Tannage Résumé : Acrylic resins have been utilized for decades in the finishing of leather, and literature references are available for their use in finishing and in retanning processes. There is little in the current literature, however, on acrylic syntans for use in tanning or retanning, although such products have been available commercially since the early 1960's. In 1966, a Netherlands patent and, in 1969, a United States patent were issued covering the basic composition and use of an acrylic polymer prepared in the presence of a sulfated oll for use in the preparation of leather. A paper read at the Northampton group of the SLTC covered the known properties of one of these novel retanning materials. More recently, a patent was issued to cover copolymers of unsaturated acids and quaternized tertiary amines, although products of this type are not normally available. ZirconiumIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Wet-white shavings are one of the main solid wastes produced in the leather industry. In this paper, Zirconium (IV)-loaded adsorbent (ZrLA) was prepared by using wet-white shavings as the supporting matrix. The fundamental adsorption behaviors of this new adsorbent for arsenic [As(V)] were investigated. It was found that the adsorption capacity of ZrLA for As(V) in aqueous solution was 60.90 mg-g-1, when the initial concentration of As(V) was 75.0 mg. L-1 at pH 4.0 and the dosage of ZrLA was 1.0 g.L-1. The initial pH of As(V) solution significantly affected adsorption capacity of ZrLA to As(V) and the optimal pH for adsorption was in the range of 3.0-6.0. The adsorption isotherms of As(V) could be well fitted by the Langmuir equation, and the maximum adsorption capacities calculated by the Langmuir equation were close to those determined by experiments. The adsorption kinetics of As(V) on ZrLA could be satisfactorily described by the pseudo-second-order rate model. The adsorption capacity was increased with the increase of the zirconium content in ZrLA, and the highest adsorption capacity was obtained when zirconium content of ZrLA was 90-110 mg.g-1. Tannage Résumé : An acrylic resin nano-size latex whose colloidal particle size was about 20nm and solids content about 25% was prepared by a high solids content semicontinuous microemulsion copolymerization. The experimental product was employed in retanning drop [bottom] splits of pigs aiming to reinforce the leather. The offer of cross-linking agent and functional monomer were varied in the copolymerization experiment and their effect on the reinforcing function was investigated. The effect of colloidal particle size and dosage of nano-size latex on the reinforcing function also was verified.
The particle size of the latex was tested with a laser particle size analyzer, and the composition of the copolymer was analyzed by infrared spectrometry. Multifunction material test equipment was used in the physical testing of the retanned leather.
The result of the experiment showed: when the dosage of divinylbenzene (DVB) was 1.2% and the dosage of acrylic acid (AA) 0.8%, the reinforcing performance was the highest. When the colloidal particle size decreased from 64.2nm to 16.3nm, the reinforcing effect was also enhanced.
The tensile strength increased by 68%, and the tear strength improved 44% after the drop splits of pigs were retanned with 2% acrylic resin nano-size latex (with respect to the shaved wet blue weight). The effect of the dosage of sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), n-pentanol (PA), ammonium persulfate (ASP) and AA on the colloidal particle size was also studied.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL DETAILS : Materials - Synthesis

A leather sample of 2.000 g is burnt to ashes at 700°C; Al2O3 in the ash is melted with 1.5 g Na2B4O7 at 950°C for 20 minutes. The melt is dissolved in nitric acid, 1M, and diluted in a 250.0 ml measurement flask. Al3+ in the sample solution is back-titrated with standard solutions of EDTA and Pb(NO3)2. Using this method, we analysed samples of lamb and pig leather, tanned with the plant-aluminum tans sumac and quebracho. The results have good reproducibility, 0.04 % Al2O3 for a sample containing 2.39 % Al2O3. The losses of Al2O3 during melting are less than 4 %. Tannage végétalIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : This paper develops a method for determining Al2O3 in vegetable-aluminum and aluminum tanned leathers. The method is based on the property of Al3+ to form a red complex compound with aluminon at pH = 5, l = 520nm.
The preparation of the sample involves: ashing the sample at 700°C, melting the ash with 1.5g Na2B4O7 at 950°C and dissolving the melt with a dilute solution of HNO3. The proposed method is used to determine the content of Al2O3 in vegetable-aluminum tanned pig and lamb leathers. The results have a very good reproducibility, with relative standard deviation, Sr = 0.5-1.3%. The absence of systematic errors in the proposed procedure has been demonstrated.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Reagents
