Extraits de plantes:Extraits (pharmacie)Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The present paper reports the in vivo anti-dandruff and sebum regulating potentiel of an extract of Epilobium angustifolium. Results from in vitro and ex vivo studies showing inhibition of 5-alpha reductase activity, increased involucrin expression, reduced lipid synthesis, and protection of the epidermis from Malassezia-incruced morphological changes through a mechanism involving modulation of defensins (hBD2 and hBD3) and TLR2 expression, have been described in SOFW Journal 08/16. The anti-dandruff and sebum regulating efficacy of E. angustifolium extract (1.5 "Yo) were confirmed in a clinical study that mobilized 24 volunteers with dandruff and greasy scalp for 30 deys. At the end of the study, non-adherent and adherent dandruffs were significantly (p<0.0001) reduced by -54% and -48 % respectively and scalp sebum production was inhibited by -67 % (p<0.0001). ln a second clinical study, the anti-irritation potentiel of E. angustifolium extract (3 %) was evaluated on the forearm of 8 healthy volunteers, following lactic acid challenge. A strong and fast decrease in the appearance of lactic acid-induced erythema (-24 % at 30 minutes and -27 % at 24 hours) was reported following application of the extract on the challenged zones. In conclusion, E. angustifolium extract offers an efficient and innovative approach to dandruff reduction through immunomodulation of the skin response to Malassezia invasion.

PeptidesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The intimate relationship between the human body with its microbiome is more than a symbiotic system. It creates a supraorganism called holobiont. Each damage in the skin generates an imbalance in its microbiome and vice versa. French cosmetic active ingredient developer Sederma explains how an adaptative intervention on the skin microbiota can be achieved through cosmetics.
There is a growing interest to understand interactions between our body and micro-organisms living inside us and on our skin. Recent discoveries of the effects of digestive microbiota disruptions, called dysbiosis, are thought to be the cause of inflammatory digestive diseases.
There are also evidences of implication in Parkinson’s disease and regressive autism. As skin is our biggest organ and features one million micro-organisms per square centimetre, let us examine what this means for cosmetics.Note de contenu : - Micro-organisms, microbiota, microbiome and holobiont

In the personal care industry, there is an ever-increasing demand for milder, naturally derived ingredients that has been driving the selection of raw materials globally. In addition, there remains a focus within the industry to find alternatives to sodium lauryl sulfate, and sodium lauryl ether sulfate.
The reasons for the shift towards sulfate-free mostly arises from reports of skin irritation due to exposure to both of these sulfate based surfactants.1 To facilitate the move to using alternatives to alkyl sulfates and alkyl ether sulfates, Innospec have developed a wide range of chemistries based on both (alkyl) acyl amino acids and acyl (methyl) isethionate chemistries to improve skin mildness in formulations.
The drive towards sulfate-free started over 15 years ago when concerns were raised in an internet blog over the use of alkyl and alkyl ether sulfates in personal care products. Over the past ten years, consumer concern has continued to grow significantly causing market leaders to launch an ever-increasing number of sulfate-free formulations to both the consumer and professional personal care markets. One key thing to remember: economics will never be the driving factor in the journey to develop sulfate-free formulations.Note de contenu : - Importance of formulation pH on selection of mild surfactants
