ProductionIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : With the advancement of science and technology and increasing industrialisation, more and more the waste produced by industry has entered the natural and ecological environment, especially with reference to the environmental pollution effects on freshwater rivers and their surroundings and this River ecological environment is gradually deteriorating. The development of the leather manufacturing industry as represented by shoe industry has caused serious damage to the environment. In order to explain the concept of green production based on the River ecological environment, the article compares the situation of River ecological environment and resource consumption in actual leather production based on Eco-indicator99 and CML2001 evaluation methods. The results show that both the Eco-indicator99 and CML2001 evaluation methods are helpful to evaluate and study the manufacturing process of leather products more completely and at the same time we are able to put forward measures to improve production. SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Environmental awareness among European consumers is steadily growing and plays an increasing role in their purchasing decisions. Nevertheless, the most important criteria are still performance and case of use. Even "green" products have to achieve at least average market quality to obtain customer acceptance. The range of commercially available high-performance and environmentally friendly surfactants is however rather limited. The invention of fatty acid N-methylglucamides sets here a milestone for a new generation of environmental friendly sugar surfactants. They set themselves apart from other typically used surfactants, e.g. fatty alcohol ethoxylates, through an extraordinarily positive ecotoxicological profile, whilst maintaining or even improving upon performance.
Short-chain GlucoPure Wet for example, has a very strong wetting power, which expresses itself in outstanding soap scum removal when used in the sanitary sector. This combination of high-performance and environmentally friendliness makes this sugar surfactant therefore an ideal candidate to formulate a green bathroom cleaner without compromising on performance and convenience, thus preventing disappointments on the customer's side.Note de contenu : - Glucamides : a short introduction

EvaluationIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Twenty groups of finished feedlot cattle (thirteen steer groups, seven heifer groups) of known origin, breed type, sex and implant status were studied after marketing to determine the type and extent of hide defects as related to days on feed, live market weight, and hot carcass weight. Origin of cattle did not significantly influence the five hide characteristics evaluated (hide defects score, hide vein score, healed scratches, ringworm, and warts). Live weight and sex influenced the weight of the hides (P < 0.05), with steers being heavier and having heavier hides. Days on feed increased (P = 0.06) the amount of vein damage observed on the hides but was not sex related. Results from this study indicate that under typical commercial cattle feeding practices in Texas, hide defects differ among cattle under the same management and are related to the days on feed in the feedlot, which influences final market weight and degree of finish.
