Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=34417

Latex
RhéologieIndex. décimale : 532.05 Mécanique des fluides et des liquides - Dynamique (cinétique et cinématique) Résumé : The technique of parallel superposition has been to examine the formation of shear induced structures in an associatively thickened latex. In this technique a sample is subjected to simultaneous shear and oscillatory motions. Associative thickeners rely for their effect as viscosity enhancers by adsorbing onto the surfaces of more than one particle, in manner similar to that of bridging flocculants. It was found that an increase in the shear rate results in an increase in the high frequency limiting value of the storage modulus. This effect is ascribed to the compression or extension of thickener molecules away from their entropically favoured conformations when two dimensional structures are formed under shear. Revêtements -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The author outlines ways in which companies can formulate cost-effective sheen and side sheen products with improved stain resistance and ease of stain removal properties.
Ease of cleaning and stain removal are qualities that are high on the agenda when developing new premium quality decorative coatings. In many markets this attribute is juged by the scrub or wear (how easy or difficult it is to remove or how much film weight is lost after so many abrasion cycles) resistance of the coating (the standards vary from region to region but are normally set as so many % film weight loss after a set number of cycles). However in many markets (e.g. North America, some parts of the Asia Pacific region) this attribute is now being judged differently. It is now important whether or not the paint film is prone to staining (with readily available, common household stains) and whether such stains are easily removed by gentle cleaning.Note de contenu : - EVALUATION

Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : An interior latex paint was simplified by using soy protein (SP) to replace hydroxyl ethyl cellulose (HEC) thickener, rheological modifier, and calcium carbonate. The rheological and solid-state properties of the latex paints were investigated. The SP paint had similar viscosity characteristics as that of the HEC paint for practical applications. Strain sweep experiments show that the SP paint has less antisettling characteristic compared to the HEC paint. The dispersion structure of the SP paint is less flexible than that of the HEC paint, but has similar strength at large strain. The values of storage moduli at very low frequency indicate both the HEC and SP paints have a long-term stability. The SP paint had a slower recovery rate after high shear compared to the HEC paint, indicating that the SP paint will have better leveling, but slightly more sagging during application. The dried SP paint had a greater storage modulus than the HEC paint under ambient temperature. The SP paint also had a higher glass transition temperature, indicating a greater ability of protein to immobilize polymer latex. The magnitude of G′ shows that the SP paint is more rigid than the HEC paint. The hardness test shows that the SP paint had a greater hardness than the HEC paint. These types of applications involve processes, such as pasteurization, that expose the pressure sensitive article to high heat and humidity or hot water for extended periods of time. Our new technology allows us to undergo processes of this type with little or, in most cases, no whitening. Note de contenu : - Test methodology
