Résumé :	Extenders (or fillers) have traditionnally been used to decrease the cost of inks and pigmented coatings. The substitution of a part of the pigment by extenders considerably decreases the raw material cost of formluations, but this tends to have an adverse effect on the colour strength of pigmented systems. Hence, the use of extenders in coloured systems has to be carefully considered in order to avoir reducing the colour strength.
