ThermocinétiqueIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The influence of microwave irradiation on chromium sulphate solution was studied to provide a foundation for effectively utilizing microwave in the tanning process. The chromium sulphate solution was heated by microwave with a sample heated by water bath at the same condition as a control. During the process, the pH, conductivity, dielectric constant and UV-Visible absorption spectrum of chromium sulphate were measured to study the influence of different heating methods on chromium complexes hydrolysis and on the olation process. The results demonstrated that both microwave and water both methods could lead to the chromium sulphate pH dropping, conductivity increasing, UV-Visible characteristic absorption peak shifting to violet, R value enlarging and dielectric constant increasing. However, the microwave irradiation had much more obvious effects on these changes than the water bath, indicating that microwave irradiation could promote chromium sulphate hydrolysis and dation further. This research proved the both uniform thermal effect and non-thermal effect in the chromium sulphate solution under microwave irradiation, and that these affects could benefit the chrome tanning process in the future. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Fleshings, the major solid waste generated at the pretanning operations of leather processing, were hydrolysed using pancreatic enzymes with a view to evolve a simple method for solid waste management. The proteolytic activity of pancreatic homogenate with casein was found to be 80 units/ml. Fleshings, treated with pancreatic enzyme preparation showed a six fold increase in proteolysis against the control at the end of 7 days. The total protein content, collagen and the free fatty acids in the hydrolysate supernatant were 80.0, 10.64 and 72.86 mg/ml respectively. The optimum pH for the enzyme preparation was 8.5. The hydrolysis was observed by almost total liquifaction of the fleshing.

Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Historical leather objects are at risk of deterioration through mechanical stress such as viscoelastic and plastic deformation as well as natural aging erosion. So, it was expected that appropriate leather treatment should improve their mechanical properties. For this purpose, the mechanical behavior of goat historical leather treated with hydroxyapatite (HA) and polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG400) was studied and compared with the mechanical properties of untreated sample (control). The samples were subjected to a dynamic tensile stress by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) as well as static stress by tensile test. In addition, the treatment effects on the leather mechanical properties were investigated after accelerating aging test. It was shown that treated sample exhibited more softness, better mechanical properties and less structural changes than the untreated sample. The Scanning Electron Microscopy studies show uniform distribution of nanoparticles in the leather matrix as well as the nano hydroxyapatite particles, which are placed between collagen fibers. Vapeur d'eauIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : est results of finished leathers are presented in this paper. Varying proportions of acrylic resin and collagen hydrolysate were used as binding agents. The hydrolysate was produced from waste chromium-tanned hide by means of acid hydrolysis. Sorption, desorption and water vapeur permeability were assayed and softness of leathers finished with mixes of varying collagen hydrolysate contents was determined. The testing has demonstrated that collagen hydrolysate in the finishing mixes improved the hygienic properties of finished leathers (increasing absorption, desorption and water vapour permeability). On the other hand leather softness declined a little.
It has been demonstrated that a new leather finishing mix containing protein hydrolysate recovered from chrome shavings can be proposed.Note de contenu : - Production of collagen hydrolysate

Polymères ramifiésIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A series of coconut oil-based hydroxyl-terminated hyperbranched-linear polyesters of generations 1-3 (CHBPs) were synthesized using a one-pot method and utilized in leather making. The effect of hyperbranched polymers on collagen fibres was discussed by comparing with linear products at macro level. The experimental results showed that hyperbranched polymers are less lubricating than linear compounds but have more filling abilities. Thickening rates of the leather treated by CHBPs decreased with growing generations due to their hydroxyl groups external to the molecule which will cross-link collagen fibres. In addition, CHBPs at higher generations can shrink location difference sharply. Unluckily, except for CHBP, other products didn't improve the mechanical properties of the leather remarkably. Still, hyperbranched polymers showed great potential application in the leather industry.
