A highly regular polymer architecture also helps to produce more stable adsorption on the pigment surface. ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Dispersing additives with a hyperbranched core/shell structure have been developed with encapsulated aminic pigment-affinitive groups. These can be used in solvent-borne and solvent-free coating systems. They provide highly effective stabilisation of various types of pigment while avoiding any undesirable interactions with reactive coatings systems. Stabilisants (chimie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The author discusses the development of Disperbyk-2155, which provides a high molecular weight for stabilisation and solids content.
Due to its innovative sphere-like structure, Disperbyl-2155 combines high molecular weight with high solids content, therefore opening up new horizons in the wetting and dispersing of pigments in high solid as weel as in conventional coating systems. It displays outstanding deflocculation and stabilisation properties, effectively reducing mill base viscosity, is storage-stable and shows wide compatibility with many different types of resin systems. The next generation polyurethane wetting and dispersing additive Disperbyk-2155 is designed to be used in pigment concentrates for automotive coatings, floor coatings (based on polyurethane and epoxy), polyurethane foams and thanks to its 100% solids content also for solvent-free UV systems. In addition, the additive has been successfully used in co-grinding systems.Note de contenu : - Pigment stabilisation in high solid systems

Revêtements -- Additifs:Peinture -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : Pigment concentrates are widely used in the paint industry for providing reproducible optical properties such as colour, high gloss and opacity or transparency in the final coating. One of the major challenges dealing with modern aqueous pigment concentrates is the proper choice of wetting and dispersing additives. The requirements for suitable dispersants are to mention only a few : rapid pigment wetting, stable and long-lasting adsorption on to the pigment surface, low dosage requirements - Even for difficult-to-stabilise organic pigments and carbon blacks - No foam-stabilising tendencies, effective viscosity-depressing properties to formulate highly pigmented concentrates and wide compatibility with various letdown systems. VOC regulations are also becoming increasingly more stringent, so much so that the additive should be offered as a 100% solids material or dissolved in straight water. In terms of effectiveness, the balance between molecular weight, number and types of pigment adsorbing groups and compatibilising groups is crucial for the performance of a dispersant.
