Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Pentylene glycol (1,2-pentanediol) offers a complete toolbox for the cosmetic formulator. Numerous studies have already been published on this timeless cosmetic ingredient showcasing its multifunctionality. This versatile cosmetic ingredient has been incorporated into formulas for over 25 years. It is classic yet remains trendy, addressing current formulator's needs. While past data obtained for pentylene glycol were the result of studies using this multifaceted ingredient at higher concentrations, new studies demonstrate the benefits of this material even at lower concentrations. Today formulators are compelled to do more with less and pentylene glycol plays a key role in this space. Biological and emotional benefits for the consumer are the two mains objectives of formulators when developing cosmetic products. Pentylene glycol enhances these two parameters by acting as a moisturizing agent, co-emulsifier and a solubiliser as well as enhancing performance of other active ingredients. Pentylene glycol provides formulators the solution for the simplicity and minimalism demanded by today's consumer without comprimising their experience. Vitamine CIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : This thesis selected ascorbic acid as a symbol component, utilized Franz diffusion tank facility and pig ear skin to simulate the transdermal absorption environment and conditions, and employed high performance liquid chromatography to determine the ascorbic acid content and to discover the effect of four different types of cosmetics systems (facial mask (A), lyophilized essence (B1), combination of lyophilized essence and facial mask (B2) and essence (C)) on its transdermal absorption. It was found that the total amount of transdermal absorption of ascorbic acid within 4 hours was B2 > A > B1 > C, in which B2 reached 0.413 µg.mm-2, and the transdermal absorptivity was B2 > A > B1 > C, in which B2 even reached 0.98%. The results showed that the mask could promote the transdermal absorption of ascorbic acid, especially when the lyophilized essence worked together with the mask, the performance and effect of transdermal absorption were more significant, which could provide good suggestions for application in the use of product. Soie végétaleIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : To achieve a sun-kissed and even tan throughout the year without exposure to harmful UV radiation, the use of self-tanning products is very popular among many consumers. The product selection in this segment is diverse, but alternatives to us active ingredients are low. Most manufacturers typically use dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which causes a tanning reaction in the uppermost skin layer. As the degree of tanning of the skin decreases steadily over time, for longer-lasting effects the self-tanning product must be reapplied at intervals of 3-5 days. Industry is looking for solutions to prolong those intervals. One interesting option is the use of vegan silk to extend the tanning effect. So far, the use of functional, vegan silk was proven to extend the release of fragrances and other actives such as insect repellents. Therefore, the influence of vegan silk on a potential prolonging effect on DHA has been investigated. In formulation, even at pre-set pH values between 4 and 5, for the combination of DHA and vegan silk an excellent stability was determined. Here, it has been proven that the formulation with functional vegan silk can achieve a longer-lasting tan. With increasing silk concentrations tanning results were significantly improved compared to the usage of a conventional formulation without silk. Pigments nacrésIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The global Pearlescent Pigment market is poised to grow strong during the forecast period 2018 to 2027 [1]. This high demand is in part a result of the ever increasing number of products for the face and body beauty industry; the largest growing trend in color cosmetics is to make the face and body look younger and healthier using illuminating Special Effect Pigments. This article describes a study that was conducted to determine which type of Special Effect Pigment is best suited to provide skin illumination. An oil-in-water emulsion was prepared and, keeping the emulsion base the same, three formulations were made with each formula containing a specific Pearlescent Pigment type. Formulas were then subjected to both instrumental and consumer perceived analysis to determine which type of Special Effect Pigment provides the optimum effect for skin illumination. Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The annual meeting of the SEPAWA Specialist Group "Professional Cleaning and Care (PRP) was held at the Inselhotel, Konstanz, 22nd 23rd March 2018. The event, chaired by Prof. Dr-Ing. Tobias Kimmel, had the theme “Exuberently innovative - innovations and risks in professional cleaning." The event was organised with the support of the Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. Three of the seven lectures formed a themed session on the basics and applications of foams. Starting with the instrumental characterisation of foams (Dr. Willers, Krüss GmbH), examples of the application and use of foams in various areas were shown and typical laboratory measurement methods were presented (Dr. Tropsch, BASF SE). Finally, customer expectations and the influence of formulation on foam formation were discussed based on an example (Ms. Wehler, Zschimmer & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG) Four further lectures explored current topics and trends. Examples of current research topics (Ms. Ettenberger-Bornberg, OFI Technologie & Innovation GmbH) and current testing methods for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces (Dr. Lorenz, Hohenstein Laboratories GmbH & Co. KG) were presented. The consequences of the unauthorised use of the insecticide fipronil for the cleaning of chicken coops were examined from an official perspective (Dr. Kühl, Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety). Finally, an experimental lecture examined the risks of applying cleaning agents to plastics, which can lead to material failure due to stress cracking. An example was used to show how this effect can be reduced by adapting the formulation (Mr Göllner, hollu Systemhygiene GmbH).
