ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Computational modelling was used to construct the models of type I collagen and the Zr-AI-Ti complex, as well as simulating the interactions between them. Hydrogen bond and Van der Waals' forces exist between collagen and the Zr-Al-Ti complex. Furthermore, other bonding regions between central metal ions and O, N, H atoms were calculated. Furthermore, experimental characterisations were carried out to better verify the results of computational modelling, results showed that the spectra of FTIR, UV-DRS and fluorescence were all shifted to some extent. Specifically, UV-DRS and fluorescence detection suggested that the alteration appeared around aromatic residues, tyrosine and phenylalanine. Further, XPS proved that the N atom showed a higher possibility of coordinating with the metal complex than did O. Accompanied with DSC and TG detections, it has been confirmed that the interactions brought by Zr-Al-Ti complex gave rise to the increase of denaturation temperature of collagen from 66.51°C to 88.1°C. In addition, results obtained from SEM and AFM show It is obvious that the original collagen fibre has been changed into a tight layer by layer structure, and it could be observed that metal complex particles filled in between collagen fibres ,this together with strong chemical bonding between them, finally stabilized the structure of collagen.

Température de retraitIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Hydroxyapatite(HAP) has been extensively used in clinics for such as bone tissue repair because of its outstanding performance. But, whether HAP can be utilized in other fields still remains unknown, for example leather making. In the present work HAP was synthesized using a hydrothermal method with diammonium hydrogen phosphate and calcium nitrate as phosphorus and calcium precursors respectively. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis of products shows that HAP can be produced using the wet-chemical method. The condition optimization test results indicated that high purity HAP can be obtained when the reaction was carried out at 80°C and pH11 with surfactant added and ultrasonic treatment for 8 hours. To study the effect of HAP on cow hide and whether it can be used as tanning agent, vitro and vivo tests of adding HAP into cow hide were conducted. The cow hide was first treated in the wet end process of leather making and then cut into several parts. The parts were treated using different HAP addition methods and the experimental results were compared under different conditions. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis indicated that HAP can react with the cow hide using both methods. Cow hide physicochemical properties were improved after reaction with HAP, the thermal stability was especially enhanced. The thermal shrinkage temperature of the treated hide was 78°C which was higher than the sample in the control group of 54°C. The hide tensile strength was greatly enhanced because HAP penetrated into the hide and reacted on hide collagen. So, HAP has the potential to be used as chrome-free tannage. This meant that the modification of cow hide by HAP was feasible and HAP tannage or HAP combination tannage was of practical significance. Tannage Résumé : Carboxylated collagen fibre (CCF) was prepared using glyoxylic acid modified collagen fibre which was extracted from fresh pigskin, the prepared CCF was used as an adsorbent to treat trivalent chromium ions (Cr(III)) in wastewater (Cr-CCF). Alkali-enzyme hydrolysis was used to extract collagen protein from the CCF after the adsorption of Cr(III) to obtain chromium-containing collagen hydrolyzate (Cr-CCH). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) were employed to analyse the structure and relative molecular mass distribution of the collagen in Cr-CCH. The Cr(III) content was determined by diphenylcarbazide spectrophotometry. The optimal hydrolysis conditions were optimised by single factor experiments with the collagen extraction rate as the index. Finally, sheep and sturgeon wet-blue was chosen to evaluate the retanning efficiency of Cru-CCH. The satisfactory sensory and mechanical properties of the finished leather demonstrated that Cr-CCH could become a good candidate as a retanning agent, which not only satisfied performance requirements for finished leather, but also achieved recycling of resources. UréeIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : The treatment and utilisation of chromium containing tannery waste has been of increasing concern because of the environmental pressure for safe disposal. The aim of this work is a development of the intermediate acids of the syntan to hydrolyse chrome shavings, then the hydrolysed mixtures were condensed with formaldehyde and urea to obtain a composite condensation retanning agent by the one-pot method. The effects of hydrolysis temperature, hydrolysis duration and the amount of chrome shavings were investigated. The molecular weight of the hydrolysate was controlled. The prepared composite condensations were applied for retanning bovine upper leather. The results showed that the prepared composite condensates have an excellent thickening [substance increase], filling and good level-dyeing effect on bovine upper leather. Furthermore, two benefits exist in this development, one is that no extra acid need to be added in the hydrolysis step and the other is that the chromium present does not need to be separated since the final composite product contains Cr(III).

Tannage Résumé : Chrome tanning is the main tanning leather method. However, the absorption of chromium is incomplete and residues are present in waste liquors thus polluting the environment. Moreover, Cr3+ will oxidise into carcinogenic Cr6+ under certain conditions. Here we a present a novel chrome-free tannage. The calix[4]arene was synthesized using tert-butyl phenol and formaldehyde as raw materials. The calix[4]arene was then sulfonated with concentrated sulfuric acid. The structure was characterised by FTIR and 1HNMR. The sulfonated calix[4]arene was applied in goatskin tanning. The results showed that the sulfonated calix[4]arene had a tanning effect. The physical and mechanical, properties of the tanned leather were better than those of conventional chrome-tanned leather. Note de contenu : - Materials

Wet-blue (tannage)Peau tannée au chrome (le chrome donne une couleur bleue)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : With the characteristics of high efficiency, specificity and mild reaction conditions, enzymes are able to catalyse many biochemical reactions. Hence, they are widely used in the soaking, unhairing, degreasing and bating processes in the leather industry. At present, there are a lot of studies on the interaction laws between protease and collagen under conventional water bath heating ; however, under microwave irradiation with both thermal and non-thermal effects, corresponding research has not yet been reported. In this work, enzymatic unhairing (EU), bating (EB) and wet-blue leather treating (ET) processes were investigated under microwave irradiation heating compared with water bath heating. Hydroxyproline concentration and chrome content were analysed by ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy. The grain of the sample was observed with a microscope. Thermal performance and physical and mechanical properties of the collagen composites was characterised by the shrinkage temperature, softness, tensile and tear strength, respectively. The results showed thât microwave could increase EU and EB rates, EU was completed 2 hours earlier and the end of EB was 1 hour in advance. After microwave irradiation, the grain of the skin or leather had better flatness and softness. It also promoted enzymatic proteolysis, in which the hydroxyproline concentration in EB and ET was decreased by 0.26 mg/L and 0.12mg/L, respectively. In addition, microwave use lowered the removal of chromium in ET, and the chrome content was reduced by 11.96mg/L. Quite a long exposure to microwave irradiation would inactivate enzymes, slightly weakening the tensile and tear strength of the leather. The results indicated that microwave treatment could promote the leather manufacturing process and improve the performance of collagen composites, which may lay a foundation for the application of microwaves in the leather industry.
Technique des plasmasIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In recent years, plasma technology has been successfully used in the conservation of cultural heritage. The removal of soot from historical bookbinding surfaces through a cold plasma cleaning technique is an important application. This study aims to test the efficiency of using atmospheric pressure cold plasma on cleaning and removing soot from historical leather bookbinding surfaces. Atmospheric pressure Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) cold plasma in an oxygen environment was applied to modern leather samples that were contaminated with carbon and artificially aged. The results have been evaluated using several techniques including visual assessment, digital microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with (EDAX), Fourier Transform lnfrared Spectroscopy with Attenuated Total Reflection (FTIR-ATR), mechanical properties, and colour change by UV spectrophotometer.
