With more challenges facing traditional chemicals used for leather making, along with the development of higher living standards, great demand is imposed on the leather industry. Therefore, more researchers are paying attention to collagen modification using nanotechnologies for the leather industry. In this review, we present a critical discussion of collagen modified by nano-size emulsion, clay minerals, nano silicon dioxide, or nanosilver. In the end, we conclude this review with some perspectives on the future research and development of collagen modified by nanotechnology. Note de contenu : - NANO-SIZE EMULSIONS

TannageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A bioflocculant prepared with Bacillus subtilis was used to treat tannery wastewater, followed by component analysis of the bioflocculant. The restes demonstrated that the bioflocculant prepared with Bacillus subtilis was able to treat total nitrogen, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and colour, successfully removing the compounds from tannery wastewater. Component analysis revealed that the bioflocculant contained saccharides, proteins, glycoproteins, osamines, and fats ; the bioflocculant did not contain nucleic acid. It is expected that these results will contribute to future research into the application and the mechanism by which bioflocculants remove contaminants from tannery wastewater. The results showed that saccharides were associated with flocculation. However, proteins had a weak effect on flocculation, and fats, osamines and glycoproteins had no effect. The findings elucidated the role of each ingredient in the removal of contaminants from tannery wastewater, providing a basic for understanding the mechanism of action of bioflocculants in the treatment of tannery wastewater.

TannageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Methacrylic acid-co-modified anhydride/montmonrillonite (MAA-co-modified MA/MMT) nanocomposite was prepared via the free radical copolymerization of methacrylic acid and maleic anhydride in the presence of montmorillonite, in which maleic anhydride and montmorillonite were modified respectively by ethanolamine and the initiator (potassium persulfate). The influence of maleic anhydride modifier, the mass ration of MAA to MA and modified MMT contents on the application properties of nanocomposite was investigated.
The wet-heat resistance stability and the fullness of leather tanned by nanocomposite were improved with the increase of hydroxyl group of ethanolamine. The introduction of modified MA and modified MMT resulted in increase and then decrease of the wet-heat resistance stability and the fullness of leather. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) confirmed MAA-co-modified MA/MMT nanocomposite is categorized as exfoliated and intercalated one.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Materials - Preparation of MAA-co-modified MA/MMT nanocomposite (see appendix for details) - Characterization of MAA-co-modified MA/MMT nanocomposite - Application of MAA-co-modified MA/MMT nanocomposite leather sampels.
