Isocyanate terminated prepolymers prepared primarily from isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and polyoxy propylene glycol (PPG) of MW 1000 were chain extended with trimethylol propane (TMP) and dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA) as potential ionic centers. The urethane forming reaction was carried out in N-methyl-2-pyrollidone (NMP) using dibutyl tin dilaurate (DBTDL) as catalyst. The effects of DMPA and acrylic polyol (AP) on the particle size and its distribution have been studied by automizer. The mechanical properties of the emulsion cast films were determined using Universal tensile tester (Instron). Thermal properties have been studied by using TGA and DSC. It has been observed that the particle size decreased with increase of DMPA content and increased with AP content. Tensile strength decreased, but elongation at break increased with the increase of DMPA content, whereas tensile strength increased and elongation at break decreased with the increase of AP content. Titre : Influences on PUR ionomers Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : K. G. Raut, Auteur ; Snehalata P. Bapat, Auteur ; Sunita S. Tanavade, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 48-52 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Polyurethane dispersions are binary colloidal systems having PUR particles dispersed in aqueous phase which can be classified into anionic, cationic and nonionic systems. In this paper PUR ionomers are prepared by anionic dispersion process, using isophoron diisocynate (IPDI), polyester polyol, polyoxypropylene glycol (PPG-1000) and dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) as the potential ionic center with NMP as the co-solvent. A series of dispersions having different amounts of DMPA have been worked out to find the effect of DMPA on dispersion properties. Note de contenu : - Preparations
