The effect of temperature on the coating impedance was attributed to the change in the defect area fraction caused by the thermal expansion of the polymers. The temperature dependence of coating impedance was reversible in a non-aqueous environment but was irreversible in an aqueous environment. This is attributed to the plasticization effect of water on the polymer chains. The effect of glass transition on coating impedances during a short period of exposure to heat source was insignificant. Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : To shed light on the self-stratification mechanism in epoxy–acrylic coatings, 200-, 400-, and 800-micron-thick coatings were applied on glass and aluminum substrates, and their solidification behavior was studied. Some of the applied coats showed self-stratification behavior, with the thermoplastic acrylic copolymer in the top layer. In addition, experiments were performed on epoxy–acrylic solutions without hardeners to evaluate the resulting convective patterns on the solution surface, which exhibited finger-type convection. The final structure of the films had an apparent dependency on the thickness. Thicker films were usually more stratified and had a thicker stratified layer. As these observations could not support diffusion as the primary mechanism of self-stratification, convection experiments were done on epoxy and coatings solutions. The surface patterns on the solutions were studied, and the finger-type convection was observed. Based on these observations, we propose that convection may be the primary movement mechanism rather the diffusion of polymers toward the surface in the self-stratifying coats.

Transparence (optique)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : As described herein, a simple one-step hydrosilylation reaction was employed to synthesize alicyclic epoxy silicone prepolymers by using poly(dimethylsiloxane-co-methylhydrosiloxane) (PDMS-PHMS) with different hydrogen contents and 4-vinyl-1-cyclohexene-1,2 epoxide (VCHO) as precursors. The structures of the synthesized epoxy polysiloxane oligomer was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectroscopy techniques, thus confirming the successful synthesis of the prepolymers. With the addition of an appropriate amount of cationic photoinitiator, the epoxy polysiloxane prepolymers undergo cationic polymerization under ultraviolet light irradiation and were quickly cured to yield series of epoxy polysiloxane resin films. The performances of these cured films were tested and characterized by various techniques such as UV transmittance, thermal weight loss analysis, and contact angle and pencil hardness measurements. The results revealed that the surfaces of these films were uniform and transparent, and these films had excellent heat resistance, acid resistance, hydrophobicity, and ink removal properties. In addition, the influence of the cycloaliphatic epoxy monomer content on the curing behavior and network performance is explored. This study reveals that the curing rate increases as the amount of grafted cycloaliphatic epoxy monomer is increased and that a denser crosslinking network provides the resultant film. Finally, the photocurable silicone material investigated herein is simple to prepare and has excellent performance, and has potential applications in the field of anti-smudge coatings. Titre : Optical properties of polymer-based coatings containing metallic particles : effect of particle shape and binder Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Kuilong Song, Auteur ; Ming Xie, Auteur ; Qing Ai, Auteur Année de publication : 2023 Article en page(s) : p. 1611-1619 Note générale : Bibliogr.
(widipedia)

Transfert radiatifIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Polymer-based coatings containing metallic microparticles are a kind of functional material with effective spectral selectivity. The spectral radiative transfer model of polymer-based coatings is built based on geometrical optics, and the spectral radiative characteristics of the coatings were investigated by Monte Carlo ray-tracing method. The coatings consist of aluminum particles with different shapes as fillers and four kinds of polymer resins as binders, respectively. After verifying the reliability of the method, the effect of particle shape and binder on the infrared emission properties in the range of 8–14 μm is systematically investigated. The results demonstrate that adding flake particles into the coating can obtain lowest infrared emissivity, which is at most 86.79% lower than the coating containing spherical particles when the volume fraction is 30%. The mean emissivity of Al/acrylic resin, Al/polyetherimide (PEI), Al/polymethyl methacrylate, and Al/polystyrene (PS) composite coatings is 0.46, 0.48, 0.41, and 0.22, respectively. Al/PS composite coating has the minimum mean infrared emissivity among these four kinds of polymer-based coatings, which is 54.2% lower than Al/PEI composite coating. The method proposed in this work will provide theoretical guidance for experimental research. Note de contenu : - METHOD : Radiative transfer model - Random geometry topology structure
