Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : To expand the applications of graphene which has so far been limited by the expensive nature of single-layer graphene, the effects of varying percentages of low-cost functionalized multilayer graphene nanosheets in siloxane-modified organic coatings were studied. The hydrophobic organic siloxane–acrylic resin was prepared by solution polymerization of acrylic monomers, and the graphene nanosheets were functionalized using fluorosilane. The coatings were sprayed on the LY12 aluminum substrate, and the wettability, anticorrosion, conductive, and accelerated weathering behaviors were comprehensively examined. It is shown that the increasing addition of functionalized graphene nanosheets increases the water contact angle and the surface conductivity. At 5% graphene loading, coating–substrate adhesion remains almost unchanged, while the electrochemical impedance parameters revealed good anticorrosion performance up to 10% loading. The surface measurements and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results confirmed the photostabilization ability of graphene loading in acrylic coatings during the accelerated weathering test. Also, the mechanical properties of the coatings were not damaged during the exposure, and pitting corrosion sites were observed only on the 20% graphene-filled coatings after 1000 h of exposure. These integrated analyses of mechanical properties and environmental accelerated tests are beneficial to engineering applications of graphene coatings.
- l'une, hexagonale, est thermodynamiquement stable ; elle est de type wurtzite ;

VerreIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : This study aims at exploring composite materials based on polymer matrix for microelectronics application. Materials used for such applications need to have added multifunctional properties. Up to now, a sole polymer or single filler-filled polymer composites is tough to satisfy the demand for more multifunctional properties, particularly to acquire high effective thermal conductivity and low-dielectric constant simultaneously. In this study, hybrid filler systems i.e. aluminum nitride of average particle size 60 to 70 micron and solid glass microspheres of 90 to 100 micron were incorporated into epoxy matrix in an attempt to reach a composite with such desired properties. By varying the volume fraction of fillers (5 to 25 % for aluminum nitride and 5 to 10 % for solid glass microspheres), a new kind of epoxy-matrix composite is fabricated on a laboratory scale by simple hand lay-up technique keeping in mind the fact that the future electronic packaging materials would possess high heat dissipation capability, high glass transition temperature, low coefficient of thermal expansion and low dielectric constant for appropriate functioning of the electronic substrate. In addition, the measured thermal conductivity is compared with calculated values obtained from the proposed mathematical model and found that they are in better agreement with the values obtained from the proposed correlation. Homogeneous dispersion of the nanopigments within polyethylene terephthalate (PET) yarns was achieved by appropriate surface modification of the particles. The nanopigments were added in masterbatches to the PET melt for fabrication of partially oriented yarns (POY). These were processed further by drawing and twisting for sewing and embroidery yarns. The safety marking can be detected by NIR-irradiation and visualized by thermal imaging. More detailed analysis of the pigment composition and fiber structure, e.g. by electron microscopy combined with EDX element analysis allows unambiguous verification of the genuineness. Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this work, a series of graphene-based composite films were prepared via electron beam (EB) or ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. The influence of the graphene content as well as the irradiation dose on the curing behavior and properties of EB/UV-cured graphene composite films was systematically studied. The curing behavior of the composite films was investigated by the double bond conversion rate as well as the gel content, and the properties of the composite films were studied by TGA analysis and tensile tests. For EB-cured graphene composite films, the curing degree increased with the increase in the irradiation dose (60–360 kGy), and the upper and lower surface was uniformly cured. The curing degree and curing depth of the EB-cured films were not affected by the addition of graphene (0.0–5.0 wt.%). Compared to pure resin film, the EB-cured graphene composite film showed enhanced tensile properties. For UV-cured graphene composite films, the curing degree was also enhanced with the increasing irradiation dose, but it decreased significantly with the increase in graphene content (0.0–5.0 wt.%). The curing degrees of upper and lower surfaces of the UV-cured graphene composite film were not uniform, and the curing depth decreased with the increase in graphene concentration. The addition of graphene had an adverse effect on the thermal and mechanical properties of the UV-cured composite film.
