Accurately predicting non-linear and anisotropic fibre orientation in the product is a big challenge. Since the fibre orientation caused by resin flow or compression during molding process has a great influence on the mechanical performance, it is significant to predict the dseign quality of the product through the structure and crash analysis with consideration of fibre orientation.Note de contenu : - CAE solution

Protection contre le rayonnement ultravioletIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In the current times, the application of nanoparticles in the textile industry has become increasingly high due to the possibility of having anticipated properties, such as captivating colors, superior stability, antibacterial activity, and high-end UV-protection to the fabrics. In this study, natural herbal nanoparticles of different sizes were prepared from shade-dried leaves of Piper betle employing ball milling technique. Going forward, structural, morphological, UV-protective, and antibacterial properties of herbal nanocomposites coated on fabrics were thoroughly analyzed and interrelated with uncoated fabrics. Herbal nanoparticles were amalgamated with chitosan to make nanocomposites and are coated on cotton fabrics with the help of the pad-dry cure method. The analysis done to study physical properties of the coated fabrics, such as air permeability, crease recovery angle, tensile strength, tearing strength, thickness, and bursting strength, explicitly showed that coated fabrics have better functional properties as compared to uncoated fabrics. Along the same lines, herbal nanoparticles reflected good antibacterial and UV-absorption properties as compared to uncoated and chitosan-coated fabrics. Comprehension of functional properties revealed that herbal nanoparticle-coated fabrics highlights the potential applications of Piper betle nanoparticles in protective clothing. Morphological characterizations of the synthesized particles showed that shuttle shaped zinc is well embedded on the exfoliated nanographite particles without any agglomeration. The higher interfacial polarization of both the graphite and zinc particles contributes to the excellent electrical conductivity and hence refers it as an ideal microwave absorber in defense applications. The paint with 20% (w/v) loading of nanographite-zinc (1:1 ratio) particles is proficient in providing microwave absorption of − 18.06 dB at 8.19 GHz with a coating thickness of 1.43 mm. Produits de nourriture du cuirIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Fatliquoring is an important step in making leather. It endows strength and softness to leather by lubricating its fibers. A certain amount of fungicide is also offered during the post tanning operation, to protect the leather from future fungus infection. The aim of this work is to develop a novel fatliquor, which has both lubricating and antifungal activity. Sulfated blended fatliquors were developed by blending 80:20 proportions of castor and rice bran oil respectively and then followed by reaction with Sulphuric acid at 28±2°C. The novel fatliquor was then characterized for particle size which was similar to a control (sulfated castor and sulfated rice bran ouf) fatliquor. Antifungal performance of the novel fatliquor was confirmed by agar well-diffusion process against selected fungus species such as Aspergillus piger, Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus fumigatus. The resultant leathers were evaluated for physical strength, such as tear strength, tensile strength and lastometer test and the results were found to be similar to control leather. Our study provides additional insights for using such novel fatliquors for both antifungal and lubrication properties.

Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The synthesis of the multifunctional phosphorus-based flame-retardant crosslinking agent is presented here. Gallic acid was selected as a raw material for the production of the desired product because of its availability (bio-based), multifunctional structure, and applicability of the various chemistries. Along with the carboxylic acid group, hydroxyl groups also have the tendency to react with the replaceable halogenated compounds and it was necessary to protect the hydroxyl groups by acetylation. The synthesis procedure follows acetylation, reaction with phenylphosphonic dichloride (PPDC), and deacetylation to obtain the final product (GA-P). The structure confirmation and the progress of the reactions were confirmed using hydroxyl and acid values, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The formed product was used as a crosslinking agent to produce the polyurethane coatings with different loadings and various thermal, mechanical, and flame-retardant properties that were studied. The thermal and the flame-retardant properties showed significant increase with increasing concentration of GA-P which were studied using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), limiting oxygen index (LOI), and UL-94 tests. The coating with the highest concentration of GA-P showed 27 LOI and self-extinguishing behavior within 10 s of ignition. The mechanical properties deteriorated with increasing concentration of GA-P due to the increased brittleness and crosslinking density.
