However, it exhibits high degradation properties in the physiological medium and hence loses its mechanical properties. Herein, AZ31 Mg alloy was spin-coated with polycaprolactone (PCL) polymer blended with Schiff base derived from amino acid as a corrosion inhibitor. Coated samples were characterized using field emission electron microscopy (FESEM) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. Additionally, corrosion behavior was evaluated using electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. Moreover, the bioactivity of the studied samples was confirmed in vitro with MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts cells. Results show that coated samples with corrosion inhibition efficiency of blended PCL and L-isoleucine Schiff (PCL-SI) reached 66% compared to that of pure PCL 39%. This suggests that the introduced materials were superior to control biodegradability and biocompatibility of the bare alloy in bone tissue engineering application. Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : One of the problems occasionally associated with the use of natural dyes in the dyeing of silk is the susceptibility of the dyed yarn to fading in light. While a number of approaches have been used to address this problem, the use of polydopamine (PDA), a known agent with photo‐protective properties, has not been assessed previously. In this study, silk was pretreated with nano‐particulate PDA formed in situ by oxidation of a dopamine solution, then dyed with lac dye or annatto dye as model natural dyes. Photofading rates were significantly reduced in the case of annatto‐dyed, PDA‐coated silk relative to uncoated silk, while wash fastness was unaffected and remained only moderately good. In contrast, no significant change was seen in photofading rates with treated or untreated lac‐dyed silk, and wash fastness was also unaffected. The PDA did not adversely affect resultant colour values if the concentration of the dopamine precursor was kept low. When this was done, acceptable colours were obtained in the dyed silk. Further investigation is warranted of PDA as a photofading protectant and mordant with other natural dyes on silk and other fibres. The presence of a PDA layer and the partial reduction of GO by PDA were confirmed by FTIR, XRD, Raman spectra, and TGA. It was found that the interfacial PDA layers facilitated the dispersion of the PDRGO sheets in the WPU matrix and enhanced mechanical properties of the WPU matrix. The resulting WPU/PDRGO nanocomposite coatings show excellent electrical conductivity (9.9 × 10−6–1.1 × 10−4 S cm−1) corresponding to a PDRGO content of 1–16 wt%. The obtained waterborne polyurethane/graphene nanocomposite dispersions are promising for anticorrosion, antistatic, conductive, and electromagnetic interference shielding coatings.

Revêtements multicouchesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Magnesium alloy (MgA) was widely used in biomedical field owing to its good biocompatibility and degradability. The surface of MgA was usually modified to improve its corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, and biological properties. Herein, we employed a layer-by-layer assembly technique to assemble both polyanionic and polycationic electrolytes onto the microarc oxidation-treated MgA surface to yield MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50, where the gelatin-conjugated hydroxyapatite nanoparticles [Ge(HANPs)] are the polyanionic electrolyte, lysozyme (Lzm) is the polycationic electrolyte, and polyethyleneimine (PEI) is the transition layer. The morphology and chemical composition of MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, indicating that [Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 were successfully fabricated on the surface of MgA-MgO. The surface of MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 exhibited good hydrophilicity as evidenced by the low water contact angle of 24.5°. Excellent corrosion resistance of MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 was obtained since it can decrease about four orders of magnitude of corrosive current (Icorr) compared to pristine MgA. The biological assay for MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 showed good antiplatelet adhesion and excellent antibacterial activities against both E. coli and S. aureus. RhéologieRésumé : A new UV-curable maleimide-terminated polyimide was prepared and characterized using gel-permeation chromatography, infrared, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The polyimide was formulated with a commercially available UV-curable polyester resin via twin-screw extrusion to prepare a hybrid powder coating system. The hybrid powder coatings were cured by exposing the molten formulation to UV light. The films were studied by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), thermomechanical analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. DMA highlighted the viscoelastic behavior of the films and showed that an increase in Tg was obtained with increasing polyimide content, as determined via the α-transition in the tanδ curve. Thermogravimetric analysis showed an improvement in the thermal stability of the polyester with the addition of the polyimide. Deformation resistance of the UV-cured films was investigated by SAOS and LAOS rheological methods to investigate the relative endurance of these coatings when subjected to different strains. The viscoelastic properties of the hybrid system were most improved when 16% weight percent of polyimide was added into the system.
