Résumé : |
Many technical textiles today are multi-layer coated for special effects. Typical examples are black-out fabrics for blinds, awnings, tarpaulins, architectural fabrics etc. Furthermore, newly smart textiles often need numerous layers of conductive and non-conductive materials as well as protective barriers. However, processing multi-layer coatings on textile surfaces currently requires multiple occupancy of the usual coating machine and subsequent conventional hot-air dryer. This is not only time consuming but also very energy-intensive, as each layer is separately dried with hot air.
For this reason, research was focused on 2 different aspects :
- Developing a roll-to-roll (R2R) process for the application of water-based layers with knife or slot-die coating in a modular machine concept.
- Developing Near-Infra-Red (NIR) emitter modules for immediate drying of each coated layer without effecting the textile base material. |
