Résumé : |
Automotive headlamps fitted with the latest combined LED and laser technology, especially the kind deployed in modern luxury sedans, rely on silicone components to bundle and guide the light. Weber Esslingen produces such a silicone light guide for the company Hella, a tier 1 customer. This injection molded part is integrated into the front lighting system of the latest Audi A8 generation. |

- Fig. 1 : The LSR light guide acts like a kind of diffusing lens to bundle and guide the light from the individual LEDs
- Fig. 2 : The individual silicone fingers are oriented such that the light from the LED sources converges in horizontal orientation on the output side of the light guide to create the desired beam
- Fig. 3 : A view inside the movable part of the 2-cavity lens mold shows the highly polished surfaces of the cavities and the high-precision lens structures (silicone fingers) that require faithful reproduction |
