Résumé : |
Characterization of material properties of polymers, films, and coatings is an important component to understand and subsequently to predict performance of these materials. It is often challenging to determine material properties of thin films. Additionally, determination of material properties of polymers can be challenging if these materials do not consolidate to a solid, particularly when residual solvent is present in the sample. In this paper, we introduce Evaporative Dynamic Oscillation (EDOT), a technique that allows the characterization of rheological properties of polymers and coatings in thin film form, in situ. Results indicate that EDOT can successfully characterize drying and cure of coatings and polymeric films by monitoring viscoelastic properties of these films as a function of time and temperature. |
