Why the wide format printing techniques are growing rapidly ?
Since inkjet printing and digital printing have been introduced to a wider audience, wide-format inkjet printing techniques started growing rapidly. They are suitable to cover the customer needs for personalisation and increasingly faster cycle times. Digital inkjet business has become mainstream.
A newer application is the printing of photographs made with digital cameras using inkjet inks. It is estimated that by 2009 more than 5000 wide-format flatbed printers will be set up for graphics applications. Developments face increasing speed, quality, and resolution. In this process the diameter of the nozzles decreased from 30µm to 8µm, and smaller. This also requires a higher quality of pigments, which particularly means smaller particles, as well as lower ink viscosity.
It is expected that inkjet will become a major part of the printing industry because of its advantages over current technologies : flexibility and economic efficiency for small runs. The target market is screen printing. |
