Oil-in-water (0/W) emulsions are the most common formulation type in cosmetics as it is an ideal medium to transport ail types of active ingredients (hydrophilic and lipophilic). It facilitates the formulation of a wide range of texture with varied sensory properties. The emulsifier in the heart of the emulsion plays a key role in this system. Its primary role is to ensure what is called 'good emulsifying power', i.e. the ability to finely disperse oil droplets in water and keep them stable. Depending on ils structure and its rheological properties, the emulsifier also plays an important sensorial role.
In the current context of sustainable development and economics, more and more consumers are looking for multifunctional products : two-in-one, three-in-one, and sometimes even more versatility. Similarly, cosmetics manufacturers are looking for 'multifaceted' ingredients, able to perform several tasks in order to diminish the number of ingredients in their formulas. The manufacturing process is thus streamlined and consumes less energy.
Today, emulsifiers offering simply good emulsifying power are considered 'basic' emulsifiers. Expectations are high and consumers and manufacturers want versatility.
Montanov L (C14-22 Alcohols and C12-20 Aikyl Glucoside) is a 100% plant-based, environmentally-friendly glucolipidic emulsifier that offers such versatility. It is manufactured in accordance with the 12 principles of green chemistry and exhibits high-performance emulsifying power, an elegant sensory profile, a comforting and a moisturising effect thanks to its liquid crystals, as well as the ability to create a universal chassis that is customisable and helps reduce the development time-to-market. Globally approved by both chemical and cosmetic regulations, Montanov L is a multifaceted emulsifier of excellence that meets all the market requirements. |
