The adsorbance could be calculated from the potential and concentration response characteristics of surfactant ion-selective electrode to get surfactant adsorption isotherm. Further experiment results show that the adsorbance was greatly influenced by pH of the solution. It is demonstrated that surfactant ion-selective electrode could be utilized to measure surfactant concentrations in solution after adsorption equilibrium without solid-liquid separation. Panels were coated with five types of gelcoats to compare the effect of antifouling agents on the forming of biofilms. Pesticide and elemental silver-based additives in two weight ratios (0.003 and 0.006) were used as the antifouling agents for the gelcoat. The temporal variation in recruitment of biofilms was examined by isolation of attached bacteria during a boat storing period in a marina located along the Izmir Bay (Turkey). It was found that the gelcoat with silver ion had slight superiority over the counterparts in this study. The first 15 days of bacteria formation was the significant period for examining the antifouling performance of a coating material. Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and acetonitrile (AN) were used as cosolvents added to water. The ability of NaCl to lower the CMC of CTAB in water was inhibited by DMSO and AN. Thermodynamic parameters of micellization ΔH0m, ΔS0m, and ΔG0m were evaluated according to the pseudo-phase model. The contribution of DMSO and AN in the micellization process of CTAB in aqueous electrolyte solutions were discussed in terms of the observed thermodynamic properties.
