Coated samples with and without intentional failures exposing the metallic substrate were submitted to different levels of cathodic polarization. The process of delamination was monitored with current and impedance measurements. The delamination was quantified by a standard method. No quantitative relationship between the delaminated areas and electrochemical parameters could be found; the reasons are discussed in terms of the properties of the coatings. It was shown that the higher the dielectric strength of coatings, the more critical the role of pores and mechanical damage in determining cathodic protection effectiveness. Previous research has shown that the dielectric monitoring technology can be used to monitor the processing in thermoset and thermoplastic matrices for composite materials production. So, by combining electrical and temperature measurements with material models, resin viscosity and degree-of-cure can be calculated in real time in the mould or die. These models can be used either offline to provide the optimal process cycle, or online to provide optimal, real-time process control. The applied coatings had a thickness of 80 μm and 220 μm. The modification of the anticorrosive and dielectric characteristics of these coatings, in a corrosive environment (3.5% NaCl), were monitored by potentiodynamic polarization measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and dielectric measurements. Corrosion resistance of composite coatings was found to be somewhat higher than that of unfilled epoxy coatings. Coatings containing iron oxide a exhibited capacitive behavior as revealed by dielectric and EIS measurements. This behavior is more pronounced in high thickness composite coatings. The film properties of such blends have so far been ot reported. The method of preparation has been made simple. The varnish compositions satisfy the basic requirements of insulating varnishes as per BIS specifications. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=9047
