VulcanisationIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) based on high impact polystyrene (HIPS)/styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS)/styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) blends were prepared by dynamic vulcanization, with the TPVs being reinforced by carbon black (CB). Experimental results indicated that mechanical properties of dynamically vulcanized HIPS/SBS/SBR blends were enhanced remarkably by the incorporation of CB. The fracture surface morphology of the reinforced HIPS/SBS/SBR/CB TPVs was relatively flat. The Mullins effect could be observed in the stress-strain curves of HIPS/SBS/SBR TPVs and HIPS/SBS/SBR/CB TPVs during the uniaxial loading-unloading cycles. Compared with HIPS/SBS/SBR TPVs, CB-reinforced HIPS/SBS/SBR TPVs had the relatively higher stress, residual strain and internal friction loss. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : 1. Materials - 2.
Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5794

UsinageIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : A new carbon foam system has been developed that results in a low-cost, high-strength material that has been proving attractive for creation of tooling for composite parts. Composites are stronger, lighter, and less subject to corrosion and fatigue than materials that currently used for fabrication of advanced structures. Tools to manufacture these composite parts must be rigid, durable and able to offer a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) closely matching that of the composites. Current technology makes it difficult to match the CTE of a composite part in the curing cycle with anything other than a carbon composite or a nickel iron alloy such as invar.
Fabrication of metallic tooling requires many expensive stages of long duration with a large infrastructure investment. Carbon fiber reinforced polymer resin composite tooling has a shorter lead-time but limited production use because of its low cost, light weight, machinability, vacuum integrity, and compatibility with a wide range of curing processes. Large-scale tooling case studies will be presented detailing carbon foam's potential for tooling applications.Note de contenu : - Carbon foam

Titre : Cast film extrusion : An overview of experimental and theoretical approaches Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jean-François Agassant, Auteur ; D. Silagy, Auteur ; Cyrille Sollogoub, Auteur ; Y. Demay, Auteur Année de publication : 2005 Article en page(s) : p. 136-148 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Cast film extrusion is a widely used technique to produce polymer films for packaging or coating applications. The final width of the film may be smaller than the initial die width (necking phenomenon) and therefore is the final film thickness larger than what one could expect. Moreover it is heterogeneous (in terms of showing a larger thickness along the borders, also called dog bone defect). Above a critical draw ratio between the chill roll and the die both width and thickness fluctuations are observed (Draw Resonance Instability). All these phenomena limit the productivity of the process. This paper provides an overview of the processing and material parameters governing the development of these geometrical defects and instabilities. Numerical models capturing the main experimental features are proposed, allowing to investigate process modifications in order to limit the development of these defects. Titre : Cast film problem : A non isothermal investigation Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Cyrille Sollogoub, Auteur ; Y. Demay, Auteur ; Jean-François Agassant, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 80-86 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : An important problem arising in the cast film process is the so-called neck-in phenomenon, which may induce a drastic film width reduction as well as an inhomogeneous film thickness distribution (with the so called "dog-bone" defect on each side of the film). This neck-in phenomenon is highly influenced by the polymer rheology (increasing polymer elasticity leads to decrease markedly the neck-in), the stretching distance, the cooling conditions and the draw ratio. In this paper, we present a 2D Newtonian non-isothermal model based on a membrane approximation for the film. Stress balance, mass balance and temperature balance equations are solved iteratively using various finite element methods adapted to free surface problems and to transport equations. Coupling between mechanical and thermal equations is achieved introducing an Arrhenius temperature dependance for the viscosity. The influence of the heat transfer coefficient has been carefully investigated.
