However, natural fillers, like wood, are not consistent in these attributes. In order to investigate the shared traits between these characteristics, WPCs were produced using polypropylene, hardwood and softwood fillers with different particle sizes and a coupling agent. Afterwards, specimens were processed using an injection molding machine. The filler sizes and shapes were measured using dynamic image analysis. Furthermore, a shortening of coarser particles was detected. Mechanical tests were carried out to gain information about the tensile, flexural and Charpy impact properties. Neither very coarse nor very fine particles showed the best results. Instead, medium-sized particles proved to be the best option. The evaluation of the particle geometry verified a definite correlation between the shape and the mechanical properties, especially regarding the convexity, which can be a useful indicator of the quality of fiber-matrix interaction. The fiber orientation in the matrix was visualized with images taken by X-ray micro tomography. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Processing - Characterization

Température -- ContrôleIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : In the last decade, injection molders have increasingly come to focus on mold temperature control. Temperature-control units with a speed-regulated pump form an ideal complement to closed-loop controlled water manifolds. Since they are integrated into the machine control system, synergies arise that allow easy determination of the flow rates that are actually required, automatic setting of the pump speed, and consequently a significant reduction in the energy consumption. Note de contenu : - What flow rates are necessary ?

- FIGURES : Simulated heat distribution in a mold with two cavities and three temperature control channels. The arrow directions indicate the flow direction of the heat-exchange medium ; the arrow lengths represent the flow rate - 2. With the automatic rotary speed control the total energy consumption of the injection molding system can be reduced by 20 % - 3. Required pump output for temperature control of two circuits with different pressure losses. For better comparison, the flow rates were chosen such that a maximum temperature difference of 3K is established - 4. To make the system, comprising temperature-control unit and manifold, clearer, a new user interface was developed. All the temperature-control components are grouped together on one page : the mold with its cooling circuits, which is shown symbolically is located in the center. - 5. The e-temp temperature control units from HB-therm are integrated into the CC300 control system of the engel injection molding machine via OPC UA. Terpolymère acrylonitrile butadiène styrèneIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : A function carrier connects in the instrument panel area the driver-side displays and functional elements with the center console. As a result, this component must be dimensionally stable and meet tight tolerances. Long glass fiber-reinforced ABS has proven to meet all part performance requirements at considerably lower weight in comparison the currently used cast magnesium.
