The development of corrosion resistant 2- and 1-K waterbased zinc-rich paints / Kenichi Nakamura in JOURNAL OF PROTECTIVE COATINGS & LININGS (JPCL), Vol. 34, N° 8 (08/2017)
[article]

ZincIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The influences of the chromate quenching step and the surface chloride contamination levels of galvanized steel on the performance of duplex systems were studied. Steel panels were galvanized in a commercial steel bath adopting three different postdipping procedures. A comparative study of the galvanized steel, both painted and nonpainted, was performed by electrochemical techniques. It was verified that the chloride contamination level of the galvanized steel surfaces is the main cause of duplex system failures. An explanation for the influence of the chromate quenching on the performance of duplex systems was presented. Note de contenu : - Nonpainted HDG panels

ZincIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Zinc-rich primers have been formulated where part of the zinc metal dust was replaced by a conductive FPA. The results of a test program conducted showed that the mechanical and chemical properties of the zinc-dust paints tested were unaffected by addition of this pigment. However, significant reduction in anti-corrosion performance and cathodic protection was observed when zinc dust is replaced by an FPA.
It is the author's belief that attempts to replace portions of zinc dust with an FPA treatens the long-term anti-corrosion performance of zinc primer.Note de contenu : - TABLES : 1.
