Résistance au pelageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Hydroxy modified gelatin (GOH) was prepared by a Van Slyke reaction, and three kinds of GOH grafted waterborne polyurethane compound GOH-WPU were synthesised. The low temperature softness of GOH-WPU film is better than that of WPU. Through the contrast tests, it is found that the increase of the content of GOH in GOH-WPU can obviously improve the air permeability of bonded leather samples. The peel strength of leather products bonded by GOH-WPU can be higher than 4N/m which completely meets the product quality standard (based on GB/T 30779-2014).

ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Wetting of a solid surface by a liquid plays an important role in several phenomena and applications. Wetting of rough surfaces has attracted great scientific interest in recent decades. Superhydrophobic surfaces, which possess extraordinary water repelling properties due to their low surface energy and specific nanometer and micrometer scale roughness, are of particular interest due to the great variety of potential applications ranging from self-cleaning surfaces to microfluidic devices.
In recent years, the potential of superhydrophobic cellulose-based materials in the function of smart devices and functional clothing has been recognized, and in the past few years cellulose-based materials have established themselves among the most frequently used substrates for superhydrophobic coatings.
In the following review, different approaches to synthesize superhydrophobic coatings of silica and cellulose are discussed in detail. Procedures to manufacture superhydrophobic coatings on cotton textiles have also been discussed. In addition to the anti-wetting properties of the coatings, particular attention is paid to the cause for Hydrophobicity, methods to enhance hydrophobie nature of a surface and other incorporated characteristics such as self-cleaning property, Lotus Effect etc. Potential applications for the superhydrophobic materials range from water- and stain-repellent, self-cleaning and breathable clothing to cheap and disposable Zab-on-a-chip devices made from renewable sources with reduced material consumption. Greatest use of superhydrophobic coatings is to manufacture surgical tools, medical equipments and corrosion resistant surfaces.

Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A large number of different materials are used in a wide range of biomedical applications for which biocompatibility is essential. In order to combine this with the desired bulk structural properties, it is frequently desirable to apply some form of coating or other surface modification.
Factors involved in the interactions between the body and implants are discussed. The process of cell attachment to surfaces is complex and takes place in several stages. Depending on the application, this attachment may be essential or highly undesirable.
Surface modification may be based on physical methods such as flame treatment, corona discharge, UV radiation exposure or laser ablation. Chemical methods include etching, surface oxidation, hydrolysis, chemical grafting and surface coating. Various aspects and applications of these technologies are considered.
Surface modification is a very important aspect of the creation of medically viable polymeric and non-polymeric biomaterials and thus the use of coating techniques in the creation of biomaterials has been growing over recent decades as they can improve the application properties of materials in end uses ranging from catheters to endoprostheses and cardiac valves.Note de contenu : - FACTORS AFFECTING THE CHOICE OF MATERIALS

Surfaces (technologie)Index. décimale : 671.7 Finissage et traitement des surfaces Résumé : A new approach of soft chemistry in solution is proposed which allows the elaboration of materials with exceptional biocidal properties. In the near future, they should offer better control of the bacteria growth in our surroundings. On the contrary to the systems presently available ont the market, in which biocidal molecules are gradualy released, thecrux of the method is to functionalize the substrate with biocidal molecules covalently bonded to the solid surface. We haveused the recent developments of self-assembled monolayers to form ultra thin layers of long-chain quarternary ammonium compounds, with controlled architecture. The thickness is monomolecular and the grafting density is large. The high local concentration of biocidal molecules creates conditions rarely encountered in classical bacteriology. Such materials constitute a new weapon against bacteria infections in operating rooms, in our food, or in our living quarters. Greffage (chimie)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A cationic collagen flocculant (PCDAC) was synthesized by graft copolymerization using industrial gelatin extracted from leather shavings as the raw material with acryloyloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (DAC) as the monomer. The synthesis was initiated with tert-butyl hydroperoxide and sodium sulfite. The graft copolymer was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
The effects of PCDAC dosage, system pH, flocculation temperature and time on PCDAC flocculation were studied and the optimum conditions were as follows: PCDAC dosage 0.03g/mL; system pH7.0 ; flocculation temperature 40°C ; and flocculation time 20 minutes. Under the optimum conditions, the new flocculant showed an excellent flocculation effect, and the removal rate of pollutants in a simulated oil field wastewater ranged up to 94.1%. The flocculation mechanism was also discussed.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Material and apparatus - Extraction of collagen - Synthesis of cationic collagen flocculant (PCDAC) - Analysis of PCDAC
