Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) / Frank Welle in KUNSTSTOFFE INTERNATIONAL, Vol. 109, N° 10 (10/2019)
[article]
Son objectif est de produire des biens et services tout en limitant fortement la consommation et le gaspillage des matières premières, et des sources d'énergies non renouvelables ;

ProductionIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : PET bottles can be recycled into new food packaging. Large-scale recovery systems and recycling procedures have become established since many years. PET bottles made of 100 % post-consumer recyclate are already available in the market, and a version made of renewable raw materials also exists. No other packaging plastic can show such a positive balance. Nonetheless, PET is under criticism. Note de contenu : - Biopolymers and renewable raw materials
- Current status of recycling
- System losses and chemical recycling
- Figure : Bottles blow-molded from preforms are among the products that can be produced from recycled PET ; about two thirds of PET recyclates are used to produce films, secondary packaging such as strapping bands or substrates, as well as fibers, better known as fleece

ProductionIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : The search continues for robust polymer fibers for structural strain monitoring applications that are not affected by their surroundings. Particle-doped polymers spun as the core of bi-component monofilaments may finally lead researchers in the right direction. These filaments are protected from external influences by the insulating sheath polymer. In addition, strains can be measured, even at strains greater than 5%, which is not normally possible with many optical systems or strain gauges. The production, analysis and possible perspectives for such filaments are presented in this work. Note de contenu : - Fig. 1 : Melt spinning machine for bicomponent monofilament

ProductionIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Polymer materials, including synthetic polymers, have a bad reputation. These image problems do not just arise from the current environmental debate but also have earlier origins. In the past, too, polymer materials were subject to unjustified criticism. This often stemmed from non-scientists and frequently betrayed a lack of scientific knowledge. Note de contenu : - Microplastics and the anthropocene
