Ingrédients cosmétiquesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : While sustainability in general has been a big focus for the personal care industry of late, perhaps the greatest surge has been with marine sustainability. We have become more aware of the extremely fragile ecosystems present in this environment and the impact industry has on them. Note de contenu : - Reef safe sun care

Produits nettoyantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Consumers today are increasingly aware of the responsibility to themselves and the environment in the selection of the cleaning products that they use in their homes. A move towards low toxicity, sustainably sourced formulations is already happening, supported by third party certifiers such as the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and EU Ecolabel, who are creating an aspiration and recognition of more sustainable cleaning products with consumers. This trend will continue to accelerate, necessitating as it does, innovation and reformulation that delivers on consumer demand for high performance cleaning, whilst minimizing the impact on the environment. Note de contenu : - Consumer demand leading change
- Transparency in labelling and third-party certifications
- Partnering for a more sustainable future
- Roundtable on substainable palm oil (RSPO)
- EU ecolabel - Promoting the adoption of RSPO
- Transformation of the cleaning industry - Moving from synthetic to natural feedstocks
- No need to sacrifice performance
- High performance ingredients are already available today
- Transformational next generation formulations

Ressources renouvelables
Solvants écologiquesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Deep eutectic solvents probably evolved very early in the history of living organisms and may reflect a fundamental component of the chemistry of life. Scientists are now rediscovering all kinds of molecule combinations engineered by nature into these unique mixtures. Harnessing these bio-inspired solvents for eco-extraction purposes is one of the most exciting ways to recover phytoactive molecules using the same strategy adopted by plants for their survival.
The depletion of fossil resources, combined with changes in the regulatory, environmental and toxicological frameworks for solvents, puts heavy selective pressure on the development of alternatives to petro-based organic solvents. Finding sustainable and eco-friendly extraction technologies capable of producing extracts with novel phytochemical profiles and enhanced efficacy has become increasingly important.Note de contenu : - Andrew Abbott's discovery of a new type of solvents

Produits nettoyantsIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : When you consider the environmental impact of laundry detergent, it’s almost mind-boggling. A 2017 United States Environmental Protection Agency report estimated water usage per load of laundry. The average residential top-loading washing machine can use up to 41 gallons of water per load (155.2 litres). (Newer, more-efficient machines on the market can use as low as 10.5 gallons or just under 40 litres) [1]. Now consider that, globally, 67% of people said they do laundry twice per week, according to a 2017 Nielsen survey. That is a lot of water! Along with the millions and millions of gallons of wastewater, now think about all the laundry detergent being used to clean that laundry and where it ends up. This means extraordinarily large amounts of ingredients derived from petroleum and microplastics entering our waters and potentially harming marine life.
