Le second groupe en importance de matériaux en silicone est celui des résines de silicone, formées par des oligosiloxanes ramifiés ou en forme de cage (wiki).Index. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Silicones (polyorganosiloxanes) are highly flexible polymers based on an inorganic backbone of repeating silicon and oxygen atoms bonded together such that each silicon atom has attached to it two pendant organic groups based on hydrogen and carbon. For silicones used in release coatings chemistries these pendant hydrocarbons are usually methyl (-CH3) groups.Considering that the polysiloxane backbone is surrounded by an encompassing sheath of methyl hydrocarbons, and taking into account that hydrocarbons such as waxes and motor oils are characterized with lubricity and "non-stick" low surface energy, it is not surprising to find that silicones are similarly characterized. What distinguishes silicones from simple hydrocarbons are their better mechanical properties and higher temperature resistance. Release coatings based on chemically reacted silicones provide "easy release" surfaces for a variety of "sticky" applications. These silicone release coatings provide a non-adhering surface for paper and films upon which adhesives may be coated, handled and transported.Silicone release coated papers and films, when laminated to pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) coated materials such as labels and tapes, provide both protection for the adhesive coated product (such as in preparation for slitting, die-cutting, etc.) and they provide subsequent easy release of the release coated paper or film from the adhesive surface immediately prior to its final use.For example, when "sticky" labels are manufactured, it is necessary to provide a removable paper or film backing that can be peeled away easily from the PSA coated label when it is ready for application. After it has served its purpose, this removable backing is either disposed of or recycled. In another example, certain types of adhesive tapes are coated on their backsides with a silicone release coating to allow the tape to unroll easily. If both sides of the paper or film on which the PSA is coated are "differentially" treated with a silicone release (one release coated side provides measurably easier release than the other), a "transfer tape" can be manufactured such that the free and unsupported PSA adhesive layer can be transferred easily to any other desired surface. For every released application, it is critically important that the adhesive side of these laminated constructions remains virtually unaffected by prolonged contact with the cured (chemically crosslinked) silicone coating. The silicone release coating must not contaminate the adhesive through migration of unreacted silicone oils, thereby degrading the adhesive performance or causing secondary contamination issues (e.g., for indirect food contact applications). The silicone release coating must also provide highly stable release over time; the adhesive and the silicone surfaces must not "lock up" whereby the paper or film liner is no longer easily removed. Spectroscopie d'impédance électrochimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The coating process in the industry segment of mobile machinery for ACE, e.g., agricultural machines, is usually done by spray application after welding a variety of parts on the framework. The current painting process consists of an anticorrosive primer and a weather-resistant topcoat. The presented study is part of a research project investigating a new concept combining a new sequence in construction with the big advantage of applying a single-coat system. This smart production enables the construction of machines in modules, keeps the volume of an electrocoating dipping bath at a minimum level, and replaces the custom painting procedure with much overspray by an economic and ecological coating technology. To realize this new technology, the coating system has to perform as an anticorrosive system, providing a sufficient outdoor weather resistance, and must have sufficient adhesion strength for structural bonding of additional parts. First results show that the investigated electrocoats show good anticorrosive properties. The UV- and the weather resistance meet the required values (> 50% gloss retention after 1000 h artificial weathering of CAM 180), dependent on the type of electrocoat. First investigations on structural bonding show that a high bonding strength can be achieved. SilanesIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : The advantages of silane-modified polymeric binders have been recognized in coatings, adhesives and sealants markets. The increased accessibility of isocyanate silanes to the market will allow this technology to grow further, due to processing simplicity and applicability to a wide range of polymers.
The use of isocyanate silanes and polyols to make precursors for elastomeric sealants generally provides silylated polymers with lower viscosity than that obtained by other methods. easier formulation and mixing is one benefit.
As with conventional polyurethanes, the properties of these SPUR polymers can be tailor-made to range from low modulus to high modulus to meet the demands of different markets. These silane-terminated prepolymers may be used for formulating on-part room temperature moisture-cure sealants or adhesives with identified benefits such as superior adhesion performance, UV stability/weatherability and chemical resistance. Moreover, the characteristic of relatively fast cure makes the isocyanate silane-capped SPUR technology worth examining for insulated glass and automotive windshield sealant applications.
The aliphatic isocyanate groups of Silquest A-Link 35 and Silquest A-Link 25 silanes allow them to be used in the modification of a wide range of polymers that contain functional groups of OH, SH and NH2. The modification process can be carried out in different types of apparatus. The silane-modified polymers provide the enhanced mechanical properties, excellent adhesion and improved high-fail temperature in shear that can especially beneficial to hot melt adhesives.Note de contenu : - Preparation of sealants based on SPUR prepolymers

Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Energy crisis and over consumption of non-renewable materials have resulted in depletion of natural resources, climatic changes with global warming, and rise in sea level. The research on alternate sources and chemicals has resulted in the usage of green materials. These biomaterials are sustainable sources, biodegradable and are abundant in nature. Replacement of petrochemicals with biopolymers has gained much importance in this aspect. Conventionally, polyvinyl alcohol is employed as a protective colloid in polyvinyl acetate adhesive. Polyvinyl alcohol has the limitation of petroleum origin, is replaced by biopolymers. Starch being a biopolymer has gained interests from researches for replacing polyvinyl alcohol as a stabilizer. Cellulose as a low cost and most abundant biomaterial, finds application as reinforcing agent in conventional adhesives. Exploration of cellulose as a stabilizer for polyvinyl acetate emulsion polymerization with reinforcement has created potential applicability of cellulose in adhesives. Surface hydroxyl groups in cellulose act as a site for functionalization, which furthermore makes it a material for adhesive sector. Lignin is the second most abundant biopolymers, and it has a chemical structure made of repeating units of multi aromatic phenols that are connected via complicated ether-linkages bonds. Lignin has been chemically modified, grafted, and copolymerized. This review paper aims to showcase the application of biomaterials, namely starch, cellulose, lignin and chitosan application in adhesive field. Detailed review of grafting of vinyl acetate on renewable polymers for sustainable adhesives has been explained. Note de contenu : - Introduction : Polyvinyl acetate based wood adhesives
