Vapor phase assembly of urea–amine compounds and their protection against the atmospheric corrosion of carbon steel / Hong-Liang Zhang in JOURNAL OF COATINGS TECHNOLOGY AND RESEARCH, Vol. 17, N° 2 (03/2020)
[article]
Titre : Vapor phase assembly of urea–amine compounds and their protection against the atmospheric corrosion of carbon steel Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Hong-Liang Zhang, Auteur ; Teng-Fei Ma, Auteur ; Li Xin Gao, Auteur ; Da Quan Zhang, Auteur ; Guo-An Wei, Auteur ; Hong-Bin Yan, Auteur ; Shi-Li Wei, Auteur Année de publication : 2020 Article en page(s) : p. 503-515 Note générale : Bibliogr.

The anticorrosion films on carbon steel surface are prepared by the vapor phase assembly method. After 72 h volatilization at 50°C, the mass-loss for BCAU and MCAU in the closed space are 1.13% and 1.45%. The volatile-inhibiting sieve (VIS) test, the volatile-inhibiting ability test and the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurement are used to compare the prevention of the atmospheric corrosion by the assembly film. BCAU and MCAU have 92.44% and 87.56% inhibition efficiency for carbon steel in VIS test. On the basis of theoretical calculation and surface analysis, the protective film structures on carbon surface from the vapor phase assembly are proposed. Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Today's waterborne coatings are steadily approaching to fulfil several requirements that are usually met by solventborne systems (good adhesion, corrosion resistance and improved weathering). Aqueous technologies are generally preferred over their solvent-based counterparts due to ease of application, lower VOCs and cost. However, waterborne coatings still struggle to provide long term protection for metals in extremely corrosive environments.
Through research it has been found that combining Vapor Phase Corrosion Inhibitors (NANO-VpCI) with a non-zinc environmentally friendly metal complex inhibitor, will significantly improve the long-term corrosion protection of acrylic paints on steel substrates ; the combination of these inhibitors provides a synergetic multilayer defence of corrosion resistance through passivation and film formation.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/17vNymsezs-LNOKdzjs1MxyFaoraFQ80n/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=22962

However, some companies continue to be reluctant to use paints of this type to protect steel against atmospheric corrosion. Part of this reluctance may be attributed to low confidence, mainly due to a lack of knowledge of the performance of water-borne paint systems compared with traditional organic solvent-based paint systems. This paper presents results of experimental studies and includes technical considerations on the anticorrosive performance of paint systems using water-borne or solvent-borne paints when exposed to atmospheres with different degrees of corrosivity. On the basis of the practical results and the considerations presented in this paper, it may be stated that water-borne paint systems are currently available which present excellent anticorrosive behaviour, even in highly corrosive atmospheres. However, the development of new hydrophobic coatings holds the promise of extending the usable life of structures in marine environments. In this work, we quantify the barrier properties and corrosion resistance of two novel highly hydrophobic polysiloxane formulations and the legacy silicone alkyd topcoat used on the topside of Navy’s ships, all with haze gray pigmentation. Based on FTIR-ATR and EIS measurements of the pristine coatings, both the single- (1K) and the two-component (2K) polysiloxane provide significantly improved barrier characteristics (lower water diffusion coefficient and capacitance) than the silicone alkyd. These results were confirmed through a 3-month-long immersion corrosion test, which also showed that the 1K and 2K polysiloxane coatings had comparable degradation characteristic and remained highly hydrophobic.
