A distinction should be made between the malodour on the textiles after washing and the malodour generated by microbial growth of remaining microorganisms during the drying process. The malodour-causing light volatile substances are, chemically speaking, fatty acids, nitrogen and sulphur compounds. Note de contenu : - Axillary odour

Just turn up your shirt. That is the idea behind a new "acoustic fabric" developed by engineers at the Massachusetts Institute ofTechnology (MIT), Cambridge, MA/USA, and collaborators at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Providence, RI/USA. The team has designed a fabric that works like a microphone, converting sound first into mechanical vibrations, then into electrical signais, similarly to how the human ears hear. All fabrics vibrate in response to audible sounds, though these vibrations are on the scale of nanometers — far too small to ordinarily be sensed. To capture these imperceptible signais, the researchers created a flexible fiber that, when woven into a fabric, bends with the fabric like seaweed on the ocean's surface.
