In this paper, based on thiol-click chemistry, thiocarbamate bonds and thioether bonds were introduced into the polymer skeleton, and then pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PETTA) was introduced into the system to form an interpenetrating network structure (IPN). A new type of waterborne poly(thiourethane-urethane) acrylate (WPTUA) coating with strong toughness, high hardness, and rapid curing was obtained. Under the condition of an organotin catalyst, a WPTUA composite dispersion was prepared by using isophorone diisocyanate and polycarbonate diol as monomers, 2-dimethylol propionic acid as a hydrophilic chain extender, trimethylolpropane tris(3-mercaptopropionate) (TMPMP) and PETTA. The molecular structures of intermediate waterborne poly(thiourethane-urethane) (WPTU), WPTUA oligomers and UV-cured polymers were investigated by FTIR spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The effects of the content of TMPMP and PETTA on the properties of WPTUA, including dispersion stability, thermal properties, mechanical properties, water resistance, hardness, and toughness, were investigated. It is found that when the WPTUA dispersion has 16 wt% TMPMP and 28 wt% PETTA, the prepared films have high hardness, significant water resistance and good thermal stability for coating applications on delicate substrates, such as paper, plastic and wood. However, traditional fiber cloths made from cellulose show a poor antifouling property owing to surface hydrophilicity. In this work, fiber@poly(vinyl silsesquioxane) (POSS) fabric with self-cleaning trait and superhydrophobicity was fabricated via surface ultraviolet (UV) curing (UV-induced click reaction). Its surface micromorphology and elemental distribution were studied. Compared with pristine fiber cloth, POSS-modified fiber cloth can exhibit the superhydrophobic, nonstick, and antifouling traits. Superhydrophobicity of the modified cloth is ascribed to synergy between high surface roughness (cage-like POSS; crosslinked (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane; woven fibers) and low-surface energy (Si/-CH2-). Self-cleaning property of modified cloth results from superhydrophobicity. After water/surface contact for 60 min, the static water contact angle of modified cloth surface can reach 158.7 ± 1.6°. Superhydrophobic durability of modified cloth reaches 120 h under acid/base/UV irradiation. After 100 abrasion cycles or 1 laundering cycle, the superhydrophobicity is maintained. The novelty of this work is a rapid UV-curing fabrication of self-cleaning POSS-modified fiber cloth. This work might open up a way for preparing advanced self-cleaning garment fabrics.

The present study investigated the production and characterization of a biochar produced from Pinus elliottii for application in an epoxy paint cured by ultraviolet radiation, comparing it with graphite, in proportions of 12.5 and 20 wt%. The Pinus elliottii sample was initially ground, and then submitted to physical and morphological characterization by field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Later, the Pinus elliottii sample was subjected to pyrolysis at a temperature of 1050°C at a low heating rate (5°C/min). Biochar and graphite were separately incorporated into an epoxy UV-curable paint. The painted samples had their thickness measured and their mechanical and physical properties evaluated, namely gloss, hardness, bending, impact, contact angle with water, and exposure to salt spray. Biochar and graphite promoted a reduction in gloss and improved pencil hardness when incorporated into a UV-curable epoxy paint. In the salt spray resistance test, samples containing both biochar and graphite showed a slight delay in the beginning of the corrosion process. However, samples with biochar behaved better than samples with graphite in terms of blistering of the film in the incision region. Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS

Revêtements -- Séchage sous rayonnement infrarouge proche:Peinture -- Séchage sous infrarouge procheIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Near Infrared (NIR) radiation can be applied as a heat source for technical processes. In the coating industry this could be the thermal hardening of a liquid coating or being processed as a powder. These processes reduce the drying or curing time compared to oven heating due to faster heating of the surface without interacting with the substrate [2]. These techniques also prevent damage to heat-sensitive substrates. Another benefit is application to small areas by flexible use of the infrared light source (e.g. the hardening of automotive refinishes). Well known (near)-infrared light sources are black emitters with a broad emission range, which is varied by the temperature of the radiator. Note de contenu : - Mechanistic background
