Textiles et tissus -- FinitionIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) was used to monitor surface wetting, adsorption and film formation of aqueous fluorine-containing polymer dispersions on cotton fabrics. Performance of such dispersions, useful as water, oil, and soil repellent finishes, was correlated with homopolymer and copolymer composition. In addition to the commercially available. fluorine-containing dispersions (Dipolir® 480) model dispersions of hydrophobic and amphiphilic fluorine-containing polymers were prepared. Amphiphilic copolymer dispersions were obtained by emulsion copolymerizations of perfluorooctylethylmethacrylate with hydrophobic trimethylsilylmethacrylate, which serves as a precursor of the hydrophilic methacrylic acid and permits random incorporation of methacrylic acid upon insitu hydrolysis of poly(perfluorooctylethylmethacrylate-co-trimethylsilylmethacrylate). While poly(perfluorooctylethylmethacrylate) failed to wet cotton surfaces, incorporation of methacrylic acid promoted both wetting and film formation, as evidenced by film bridges between single fibers. Polymérisation en émulsionIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A cationic polyacrylate emulsion (CPAE) with a core-shell structure was prepared by seed polymerization. The emulsion copolymerization was carried out with the core monomoers of butyl acrylate (BA) and methyl methacrylate (MMA), the shell monomers of BA, MMA, and a home-made cationic monomer with the initiator potassium persulfate. The structure of CPAE was characterized. No 'C=C' double bond was detected in the structure of CPAE by FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectra, indicating that the polymerization reaction was complete. DSC curves showed that there were two glass transition temperature in the structure of CPAE, indicating that the emulsion particle featured a core-shell structure. The core-shell structure of CPAE was also confirmed by TEM observation. Many improvements to the coating properties emerged when CPAE was used as a leather finishing agent. The result leathers has uniform and clean grain and comfortable handle. The coating had strong adhesion and its resistance to wet and dry rub fastness was up to grade 4.5.
(Wikipedia)

Pigments inorganiquesIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : The development of anti-corrosive pigments for the most diverse coating systems is extremely time consuming and expensive, owing to the necessary climatic testing, such as testing under salt spray exposure.

It is shown experimentally that there cannot be a direct correlation between the 'in-can' gas chromatography test and the chamber test for emissions into surroundings of interior paints. Soft VAE emulsions with Iow MFFT can create paints meeting even the strictest chamber emission limits. Note de contenu : - The in-can VOC test method summarised
