Ascorbate ion (As2–) is found to be an effective reducing agent for the decolorization of methylene blue under ambient condition. Effects of salting-in and salting-out agents have been investigated for real-time application in the reduction process. The salting-in agent urea has been found to uniquely enhance the rate of the reduction of MB by As2– in the presence of micelles. Detailed kinetic and thermodynamic aspects have been considered to realize the interaction between methylene blue and ascorbate ion. Kinetic studies revealed that the reaction follows pseudo first order reaction kinetics. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials and methods - Kinetics and instruments

RhéologieIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The paper deals with the kinetics of liberation of chlorhexidine dihydrochloride (CHH) from chitosan-based hydrogels in the presence of the substance with antiseptic effect, namely benzethonium chloride at the temperature range 25–40 °C. The concentration of the CHH in the system was 0.1% (w/w). The used benzethonium chloride was in concentration range of 0.1–1.0% (w/w). It was found that the release of CHH is influenced by both factors: the concentration of benzethonium chloride and temperature. The release rate constants increase with increasing temperature and decrease with increasing concentration of benzethonium chloride in hydrogels. The activation energy of the release of the substance CHH from hydrogel is higher for hydrogels with higher content of benzethonium chloride. The activation energies of the benzethonium chloride release from the prepared hydrogels were virtually the same. TriphénylméthaneIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Removal of acid blue 1 from aqueous solution on activated carbon produced from Salvadora oleoides was investigated. The samples were characterized by BET surface area, BJH pore volume and pore diameter, XRD, SEM, EDS and FTIR analysis. The surfaces contain functional groups like ketones and hydroxyl which disappeared at high activation temperature; relatively high amount of carbon w. r. t. oxygen was found with the increase in activation temperature; the increase in surface area and development of porous structures showed a positive effect on the adsorption capacity. Adsorption of the dye on carbon at 10 and 45°C showed that the first order, Bangham and Elovich and parabolic diffusion equations apply to the kinetic data. The adsorption rate increased with the temperature and with thermal activation of the sample. Thermodynamic parameters like ΔE≠, ΔH≠, ΔS≠and ΔG≠were calculated from the kinetic data. The negative values of ΔS≠reflect decrease in the disorder of the system at the solid-solution interface during adsorption. Gibbs free energy (ΔG≠), which represents the driving force for the affinity of dye for the carbon, increased with the increase in activation temperature. RhéologieIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : Currently, there is a strong interest in designing FBE formulations for high tensile strength steel pipelines as they require FBE coatings to be applied at 40-60°C lower than the typical 240°C application temperature used to coat conventional steel pipelines for more than 40 years. At commercial production rates the curing time is 2-3min, and at these lower temperatures (as low as 180°C), standard FBE coatings do not develop the properties required to provide effective protection.
In order to minimise the time to develop an optimum FBE formulation for low application temperature we explored the use of mathematical models as scale up tools. In this approach, date is collected from commonly available lab scale setups and then used to predict the FBE's behaviour under actual industrial application conditions.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JxLeDUqHv-7FUd1RrLY_IKw0PL1KSem1/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6300
