les polyoléfines thermoplastiques semi-cristallines : polyéthylène (PE), polypropylène (PP), polyméthylpentène (PMP), polybutène-1 (PB-1) ;

Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Through utilization of a precision paint collider impact damage on varying thermoplastic olefin (TPO), reaction injection molded urethane (RIM), sheet molded compound (SMC), and Xenoy (a thermoplastic alloy composed of polycarbonate and polybutylene terephthalate) was assessed via digital imaging analysis of the impacted area. Failures in the impact area resulted largely from paint delamination. In the case of TPO, often times cohesive substrates tested, the greater the temperature at which impact was performed, the greater the amount of damage inflicted upon the substrate. On RIM, however, the opposite occured. For two-component topcoats (those crosslinked with isocyanates), SMC performed better than Xenoy, RIM, and TPO, respectively. For one-component topcoats (those crosslinked with melamine), RIM performed better than SMC, which performed better than TPO. In general, one-component paints afforded better impact resistance than two-component paints Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Stone impact test methods - Painted plastic substrate preparation - Analysis of painted substrate impact failures - Optical cross-polarized light microscopy - Thermal shock test method

The influence of thin lies on the free-edge finite element analysis. The influence of ply thickness on in-situ strengths is studied using models based on fracture mechanics. The influence on thin plies on low-velocity impact resistance is described using simple analytical models and experimental results. Note de contenu : - Effect on thin plies on the onset of ply damage

ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Isocyanate-free urethane coatings were prepared from renewable resources through the aminolysis reaction of five-membered cyclic carbonate from linseed oil and phenalkamine from cashew nut shell liquid. The five-membered cyclic carbonate functional reactants were synthesized from epoxidized linseed oil through carbon dioxide insertion. The porous-free urethane coatings were prepared on aluminum substrates using synthesized carbonated linseed oil and phenalkamine at three different mixing ratios (1:0.5, 1:0.75, and 1:1.25) and at three different cure temperatures (60, 80, and 100°C). The formation of urethane linkages and the rate of cyclic carbonate conversion during the aminolysis reaction were characterized using FTIR spectroscopy. The thermal behavior of the cured urethane films was characterized using thermogravimetry. The effects of amine concentration and cure temperature on the optical, mechanical, and end-use properties of the coatings were evaluated by measuring specular gloss, solvent resistance, crosshatch, solvent swelling, and impact strength. The increase in cure temperature was directly proportional to the rate of aminolysis reaction and also to the coating performances.

Textiles et tissus -- RecyclageIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Every year, large quantities of textiles end up in landfills or in thermal recycling. However, some of this waste could also serve as raw materials for composite materials. Left-over cotton fibers of the textile industry, for example, are suitable as reinforcing fibers that enhance the mechanical properties of bio-based plastics. By using such waste streams, materials can be reinforced in a cost-effective and bio-based way in the future. Note de contenu : - Production of the cotton composites
