Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Antifouling coatings are of great interest in many fields including the leather industry. Herein, the effects of zwitterionic groups on the preparation, structure, and performance of anti-biofouling zwitterionic polyurethanes have been investigated. The results show that the addition of excessive 1,3-propane sulfone (1,3-PS) contribute to the completion of the ionization reaction of the polyurethane in the preparation process. However, the residual 1,3-PS leads to the formation of micropores in the polyurethane films and this can be removed by the precipitation of the synthesized products in water. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (MITA) show the decreased T of polyurethanes with the increasing of zwitterionic groups, indicating the slightly enhanced microphase separation of the polyurethanes. The water vapour permeability (WVP) and water absorption rate (WAR) of polyurethane films increase with zwitterion groups, and thus the water-resistant property of the films needs to be improved for the purpose of leather coatings. In the emulsification of polyurethane, the presence of zwitterionic sulfobetaine causes the pH decrease of the emulsions, and proper neutralization may adjust it in the further investigations. Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A matting waterborne polyurethane (MWPU) emulsion was prepared using polybutadiene diol (HTPB), polybutylene adipate diol (PBA) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) as the main raw materials, dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) as a hydrophilic chain extender and ethylene diamine as a post chain extender, this was applied to the surface treatment of the leather. The surface microstructure of the MWPU film was studied by SEM. The results showed that when the content of HTPB increased, the particle size of MWPU emulsion increased, the stability decreased, the mechanical properties and surface roughness of MWPU film increased, the elongation at break, water absorption and light transmittance decreased. Combined with the matting effect, the gloss of the MWPU film was as low as 23GU, and the surface particles of the film were more obvious. The folding fastness was free from cracking, and the abrasion resistance could reach 154 circles [rubs], which meets the testing standard of leather. A semi-continuous seeded emulsion polymerization followed. The overall research objective was to improve the bacteriostatic, hydrophobicity and anti-aging properties of leather articles. The structure of the composite emulsion and its film were characterized and analyzed by FT-IR, TEM and XPS. The results showed that the latex particles had an obvious core-shell structure, a smooth surface and were monodisperse. The particle size of the emulsion ranged between 30 and 50 nm. The average value of Zeta potential was -40.1 mV which signified a good emulsion stability. The composite emulsion and its film had good UV resistance and water resistance. When the content of organic fluorine in the film was a maximum 20 %, the contact angle of a water drop on the finished leather, tensile strength and tear strength were 133.48°, 620 N and 61 N, respectively. When the content of nano-ZnO in the film was 1.0%, the average width of antibacterial band of finished leather was 2.1 mm. The finished leather also demonstrated a good anti-aging property. Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : With isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), polytetrahydrofuran (PTMG), and dimethylolpropanoic acid (DMPA) as monomers, aqueous polyurethane finishing agents were synthesized. Butylamine, ethylene glycol and ethylene diamine were used as chain-extension agents. The aqueous polyurethane finishing agents were dried to yield polyurethane films (PU films). Mechanical properties of the films were studied. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and water absorption were employed to characterize the structure and behaviors of the polyurethane films. Properties of the films obtained by different chain-extension agents were compared. Results show that the properties of the butylamine chain-extended film are better than those of the films chain-extended by either ethylene glycol or ethylene diamine. The elongation at break was the highest, 1454%. The glass transition temperature (Tg) reached -82°C and the water resistance was also better. RhéologieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Double bond end-capped waterborne polyurethane (DWPU) was synthesized from toluene diisocyanate, hydroxypropyl polysiloxane, trimethylolpropane, N-methyldiethanolamine, and hydroxyethyl acrylate. Then water repellents with long-chain hydrophobic alkyl structure were obtained by radical copolymerization of stearyl acrylate (SA) and DWPU. The waterproofing performance and other properties of the water repellents were studied for different SA contents. The results showed that, for the water repellent with SA content of 50 wt%, the water absorption of the film reduced to 4.29% while the water contact angle of fabric coated by the water repellent rose to 141.5°. In addition, the optimum SA content of the water repellent was 40%, achieving the highest score of 85 points in the waterproof performance evaluation.
