The samples were characterized by FT-IR, EDS, BET surface area and Zeta potential technique. The surfaces contain carbonyl and hydroxyl functional groups which act as a binding sites for Cu(II) ion. Adsorption kinetics of Cu(II) was tested by first order kinetics, Elovich and parabolic diffusion kinetic equations which shows that adsorption is a diffusion controlled process. The rate of adsorption was high at high adsorption temperature. Thermodynamic parameters like ΔH°, ΔS° and ΔG° were calculated from the kinetic data. Spectrométrie à énergie dispersiveIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The adsorption of basic green 4 from aqueous solution on calcium exchanged clay (Attock-Ca and Swat-Ca) was studied. Clays were first purified and activated with H2SO4and then exchanged with Ca2+ions. Clay was characterized by BET surface area, XRD and SEM/EDS. The adsorption kinetic at 298 K and 306 K showed that the first order models were applied to the data. The rate constant increased with the rise in temperature of adsorption/activation. Thermodynamic properties (ΔE≠, ΔH≠, ΔS≠and ΔG≠) for the adsorption process were calculated. Positive values of ΔH≠showed that the adsorption of basic green 4 is endothermic. Positive values of ΔS≠reflected the increase in the disorder of the system at the solid-solution interface during adsorption. The Gibbs free energy, which is the driving force for adsorption is negative indicating spontaneous adsorption. Freundlich’s and Langmuir’s models described the equilibrium adsorption study and found to fit the experimental data.

VinyltriméthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Fluoroalkyl end-capped vinyltrimethoxysilane oligomer [RF-(CH2CHSi(OMe)3)n-RF ; n = 2, 3; RF = CF(CF3)OC3F7] undergoes the sol–gel reactions in the presence of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) nanoparticles and low molecular weight aromatic compounds (ArHs) such as bisphenol AF (BPAF) and 1-(2-naphthyl)ethanol (Naph-EtOH) under alkaline conditions at room temperature to afford the corresponding fluorinated oligomeric silica/h-BN/ArHs nanocomposites [RF-(VM-SiO3/2)n-RF/h-BN/ArHs]. TG–DTA analyses and XRD spectra measurements show that the encapsulated ArHs in the fluorinated oligomeric silica/h-BN nanocomposites exhibit an amorphous structure, affording no weight loss corresponding to the contents of the ArHs in the nanocomposites even after calcination at 800°C, although the simple blend hybrids of the RF-(VM-SiO3/2)n-RF/h-BN nanocomposites and the original ArHs provide not only the crystal characteristic toward the ArHs but also a clear weight loss behavior in proportion to the contents of the ArHs in the blend hybrids after calcination at 800°C. 1H MAS NMR spectra, UV–Vis spectra, and fluorescent spectra of the RF-(VM-SiO2)n-RF/h-BN/ArHs nanocomposites obtained through the sol–gel reactions under alkaline conditions showed the presence of the ArHs in the nanocomposites, respectively. Revêtements antisalissuresIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Many sites with high solar radiation like MENA regions face high dust loads that reduce the efficiency generation of solar plants. In this context, this paper provides an overview of dust adhesion mechanism on the surfaces of concentrated solar power (CSP) mirrors. The assessment of dust adhesion was performed on the hydrophilic/hydrophobic glasses at two representative CSP locations in Morocco (Ouarzazate and Midelt). Two types of reflecting mirrors are examined. The first one is based on superhydrophilic TiO2 protective coating, and the second one is the reflector mirror based on hydrophobic Al2O3 protective coating. The research shows that for particle radius of 2 µm, the Van der Waals force dominates for hydrophobic coating for Midelt with high humidity. In contrast, the capillary forces are prominent on the superhydrophilic TiO2 coating for Ouarzazate with low humidity. The results show good agreement with the X-ray diffraction results. However, as compared to Midelt dust, the dust particles from Midelt are formed of Smectites for the clay fractions. Smectite is highly swelling clay in water compared with Illite, Kaolinite, and Vermiculites types of clay minerals (low swelling clay in water). This work provided a facile method for the calculus of adhesion forces on the surfaces of CSP mirrors and as result helps us to select the best types of anti-soiling coating for reflector mirrors. Polypropylene grafted with maleic anhydride was used as compatibilizer. The evolution of the microstructure along the screw profile was characterized through dead-stop experiments. In order to quantify the multi-scale dispersion state of the nanocomposites, different techniques have been used: scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) to observe the large remaining aggregates, X-Ray diffraction measurements to characterize the intercalation state by measuring the interlamellar distance, and finally rheological characterizations in the molten state to assess the dispersion state at the nanoscale. The effects of low barrel temperatures and high matrix viscosity were tested, in order to improve exfoliation by an increase in shear stresses.
