The rheological and solid-state properties of the latex paints were investigated. The SP paint had similar viscosity characteristics as that of the HEC paint for practical applications. Strain sweep experiments show that the SP paint has less antisettling characteristic compared to the HEC paint. The dispersion structure of the SP paint is less flexible than that of the HEC paint, but has similar strength at large strain. The values of storage moduli at very low frequency indicate both the HEC and SP paints have a long-term stability. The SP paint had a slower recovery rate after high shear compared to the HEC paint, indicating that the SP paint will have better leveling, but slightly more sagging during application. The dried SP paint had a greater storage modulus than the HEC paint under ambient temperature. The SP paint also had a higher glass transition temperature, indicating a greater ability of protein to immobilize polymer latex. The magnitude of G′ shows that the SP paint is more rigid than the HEC paint. The hardness test shows that the SP paint had a greater hardness than the HEC paint. The molecular weight (MW) of yakskin collagen was 51825 Da. An amino acid analysis showed that yakskin collagen is rich in nutrients and contains essential amino acids. The effects of SPI on the mechanical properties (tensile strength (TS) and elongation at break (EAB)), light transmittance, water vapour permeability (WVP) levels, FTIR, X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, thermal properties, water contact angles and yakskin collagen-based films' cross section morphologies were studied. The results showed that excellent ultraviolet barring functions were achieved from edible films with the incorporation of SPI. The edible films produced by SPI present better properties than films composed of only yakskin collagen. Yakskin collagen/SPI composite film could be more widely used in edible food packaging film. As plasticiser, sorbitol can effectively replace glycerol. It opens up a new direction for the effective utilisation of yakskin resources in Qinghai province.
The paper provides information specific to yakskin in contrast to other sources of collagen.Note de contenu : - INTRODUCTION : Skin structure

The properties of biosurfactants can vary with their structure which is dependent upon strain, cultivation conditions and carbon source. A mannosylerythritol lipid (MEL) is one of the simplest biosurfactants with a well-defined structure produced by Pseudozyma antarctica (ATCC 32657). The study includes the surfactant properties of MEL produced on soybean oil with sucrose as substrate. MEL showed surface activity at very low concentrations. The various properties were explained on the basis of the structural similarity between MEL and Gemini surfactant. The performance properties of SLS like foaming, emulsification and wetting were improved when SLS was partially substituted (5– 20%) by MEL. Based on the study, MEL can be used in various cosmetic products like shaving creams, skin creams and lotions, where MEL will not only enhance foaming property but also provide moisturizing and healing properties on skin. Vapeur d'eauIndex. décimale : 610.72 Recherche médicale : classer la médecine expérimentale à 619 Résumé : A novel collagen-soy protein isolate (SPI) film formed via self-assembly was developed. This research investigated the structure and application properties of the collagen-SPI self-assembled film and the blend film. FTIR and XRD evaluation of structural properties indicated that the self-assembly method could effectively enhance the compatibility between collagen and SPI. The collagen-SPI self-assembled film presented a compact, smooth and continuous microstructure. The tensile strength (Ts) and elongation at break (EAB) values of the collagen-SPI self-assembled films (Ts : 13.991 ±0.53 MPa, EAB : 84.57 ± 6.21%) were nearly twice those of the blend films. The water vapour permeability (WVP) values of the collagen-SPI self-assembled film were more than 2000 g•m-2.24h. The maximum decomposition peak of collagen-SPI self-assembled films was located at 313.2°C. The collagen-SPI self-assembled films could achieve swelling equilibrium quickly within 2 hours, and the structural integrity of the film was maintained for 24 hours. The collagen-SPI self-assembled film had excellent ultraviolet shielding and visible light transmission qualities. The collagen-SPI self-assembled film had better mechanical properties, optical properties, thermal stability and water resistance properties as opposed to blend film. As a clean and feasible method, the self-assembly method could improve the functional properties of the collagen-SPI film. The collagen-SPI self-assembled films could be used as novel wound dressings in the future./ Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL SECTIONS : Materials - Preparation of the collagen-SPI self-assembled film - Preparation of the collagen-SPI blend fim - Characterisation of the collagen-SPI films
