Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Acrylic- and epoxy-alkoxysiloxanes are increasingly used in moisture-curing isocyanate-free resins for marine and protective applications. These resins are valuable alternatives to 2K polyurethanes due to their broad range of performances and their benefit to cope with recent environmental trends. Their market penetration, however, has been limited so far due to an unfavourable cost/ performance ratio.
A new family of polymers based on the combination of vinyl (neo)ester and vinyl alkoxysilane monomers is presented in this paper. These polymers, with solid content between 70 to 100%, offer attractive properties by varying process parameters, monomers composition and alkoxysilane levels, as well as an attractive cost level. This new, highly versatile, binder technology was tested in 1- and 2K moisture-cure coatings with standard catalysts. The tests demonstrate that high solids content, fast drying development and long shelf life can be combined in a cost-efficient and isocyanate-free solution. The performances of these vinyl silane copolymers enable the development of a new range of valuable alternatives to 2K polyurethanes and acrylic-alkoxysiloxanes for many applications, especially in protective coatings.Note de contenu : - Moisture curing alkoxysilanes

These coatings have the key advantage of using isocyanate crosslinkers normally employed in solvent borne systems without any modification or chemical change to the isocyanates being necessary. Using the new polyol dispersion, the isocyanates can be simply stirred in by hand to achieve a homogeneous dispersion ready for application. The polyols can be crosslinked with either single isocyanate crosslinkers or with crosslinker blends. This paper demonstrates that blending several of these isocyanates allows for wide formulation latitude in the resultant waterborne coatings. Note de contenu : - Appearance

RhéologieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Coating resin manufacturers and coating formulators have devised several strategies to overcome the problem of high levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in acrylic urethane products. These include replacement of VOCs with water, high solids versions, and in the US, using exempt solvents.
But each has limitations and coating formulators and resin manufacturers are in need of low viscosity high solids acrylic urethane resins offering the same or superior performance at similar costs.Note de contenu : - The experiment

A long-term study of hydro-2K-PU/hydro-UV coatings (2K-PU/UV) and the influence of binder type, pigmentation and mechanical properties of the binder was carried out.
